I don't think it's the sculpt. Sorry Chris, but I think the irises need to be painted larger. His eyes dominate his face more. This may be why the eyes seem too small. Andy's given him great attitude. That little curl of hair looks like a real casting challenge.

When I think of how tiny those eyes really are, and what you must have gone through to paint them so perfectly....but bigger irises might help. Please try it on the next one.

I keep coming back to this thread...anyone else notice how the ear in the first photo looks like it's got light coming through it, just like real ears do?

How does anyone learn to paint light?

Kuato mentions that Andy cast it in a transluscent resin.

I wish all cast were done in that type of resin as well. :lol There really isnt much painting invloved just shading. I know Enterbay uses this technique. I dont mind the sculpt it looks like Owen i think and Chris you did a great job. :peace

Chris do you happen to have the before shot of the sculpt. I have seen Andy's transluscent skin tones before but im curious to see if he changed the mixture.

Thank you everyone for all your comments and constructive critiques :). This was just my first shot at this sculpt, as you mentioned GOB the irises do need to be larger and that was something I was a bit unhappy with as soon as I finished them but decided jsut to finish the whole sculpt anyway.
John, I will pm you about the cast :).
Josh, the mixture seems to be about the same color as the one he did for the John Locke, a great mixture. Ill see if i can put the raw scupt pics up later. and yeah it looks enough like Owen for me to be satisfied, just overall is a BAD A$$ sculpt, and a pleasure to paint, such detail in it in person.

Chris
