I believe it runs nearly simultaneously with the events of the first film.

I wished this show did not use the CLOVERFIELD name and was called something else so I would not have to watch it. The franchise went to the WALMART $5 DVD bin way too early. It almost reminds me of Star Ship Troopers!! Never understood why they went straight to low budget video for the sequel. It did so well and would have been good for at least two more cinema releases. Shame
This term has lost all its flavor.

Good movie although a bit predictable. Wish it had more creatures lurking around. Hamilton's attachment towards her parallel family felt corny and idiotic. Jensen's actress would make an awesome Samus Aran.

This film was a **** sandwich.. I can see why they tried to ride the Cloverfield name... Obviously the "cloverfield" stuff was added on.
I thought it was really boring and just all over the place..
This film does not deserve to have the name of Cloverfield in its title. The original was IMO a Kaiju classic that was far better then the 2014 Godzilla and Pacific Rim. I use to read a lot of complaints about the characters but they were again far more interesting then the characters in Godzilla 2014 and Pacific Rim...
10 Cloverfield Lane tried to ride the coattails and trick audiences into the theaters... Which was a mistake because its a great thriller that ended up frustrating a lot of viewers.
Obviously everyone wants a damn sequel to the original.. I don't know why they just don't make it.

These films initially had nothing to do with each other..
10 Cloverfield Lane script was originally called "The Cellar" and it was decided to give it the Cloverfield name for obvious marketing reason and to possibly start its own "Twilight Zone" type film franchise. Think of the film that way. Its the 2nd episode of the Twilight Zone show.
I am guessing this New one was an original Space / thriller that did not test well with production studios and they did not want to send the money to market it.. So they filmed a few extra scenes so they could label it "Cloverfield" Since the original Cloverfield had flip phones and this film is set in present day then they are not connected.

That's not what he's asking. The answer I'm leaning towards is that Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane are both set on earth but in different dimensions. The astronauts on the station are in the Cloverfield monsters reality and 10 CL is playing out on another earth in an alternate time line or dimension.

Its only because of the **** show known as Cloverfield 3 are we even asking this question about dimensions..
Cloverfield and Cloverfield 3 are not even in the same reality since (as I pointed out) they are in very different time frames.
10 Cloverfield was not originally conceived as a Cloverfield sequel.
It's like Halloween 3. They were going to try and make a different Halloween film every year and call it Halloween 4,5,6,7, etc.. No Michael Myers Just a "tales from the Crypt" type movie series.. That does not mean that the films all take place in different Dimensions.. Of course you could make the argument that Halloween 4,5,6 are different dimensions then H20 and Resurrection.. Then there Is the New Jamie Lee Curtis Halloween coming out that ignores part two...
Not being series of course.. Just having fun with this silly Other dimensions plotline that C3 has brought to the table. Edit:
So I watched some Fan theories on this.
1. It appears that Cloverfield 3 was made to be a cloverfield movie and not just a last minute decision and reshoots to tie it on.
2. The producers seem to want to tie the three films together.
3. and if that is the case then you can only assume that all three films take place in three different dimensions.. since Cloverfield takes place in 2008, Colverfield 2 in a dimension with no monsters but Aliens, and Cloverfield 3 takes place in 2028

There's too much detail in the ARGs for this to not be the case -in fact, it's the ARGs that actually prove they are linked.
I get this movie isn't the greatest of all time, but I had enjoyed it because I felt it added to the growing Cloverfield story or whatever you want to call that's being created.

I believe the term you are looking for is "branded IP" or "franchise."
It really doesn't matter, the new movie basically makes an explanation for "anything can happen" which isn't terribly interesting. They can come up with whatever they want and just say it was caused by the particle accelerator incident.
