I just recieved an unmarked box in the mail with nothing but a sticker with my address on it so I opened it up and 7 dvds were inside with an invoice from Colombia House saying I authorized $17.40 on my Visa for these movies.

Now I have no idea what this is and I certainly didn't order the ^^^^ in the box nor did I ever sign up for Columbia House. I call the number and speak to someone that says I signed up on their website on 12-22-08. I told him I didn't and he said he'd issue a refund and cancel the account.

My question is, has this ever happened to anyone else? Did they somehow get a hold of my bank info and charge my card? Will they really refund (although I can't find a charge anywhere on any of my cards) my money? What the hell do I do with the ^^^^ they sent me? Do I need to do anything else to cancel this?

Columbia House....ahh.....I owe them hundreds of dollars in CDs. All of those 14 CDs for $.01 that I never followed through on. BMG as well. :lol who would have thought they'd send them to a 12 year old.

I would say your card may have been taken but the weird thing is that it got sent to your house....I had my Capital One Visa taken in August and they charges smaller things first to test if it worked. By the time my Fraud Alert flagged the card, they had already charged $500 to my card in various sites internationally.

i got hit with credit card fraud about amonth ago. all small things. that started to add up. i didn't even know it until visa contacted me and said they were red flagging my account.it's a pain in the ass. i had to go through every purchase i had made to see what i had bought and what the crooks were buying.

Id contact your bank and let them know about whats happened, and cancel payment for that. Also get them to kill your current card and issue you a new one. And get a bank statement asap.

:lol I still owe PLAYBOY money from when i was 17!!:lol

I've checked every Visa statement I have from my checking to my credit cards and don't have a charge anywhere?

Someone may have your ID, and just happened to open a CC with the same company or bank. Did you check your credit? This thing with CH may be a blessing in disguise.

Whatever credit card it was on I'd have them issue you a new number.

I played BMG so well over the years that I now get 2 free cds every year for life. Those are the only ones I get though them now. I just pay for shipping which is around $3. :D

Ahhhh.... Columbia House delivered so many CD's to nonexistent people over at our college dorm at nonexistent apt. numbers! Ye Goode Olde Days!

Well I just found the charge on a credit card of mine. I've also been hit up for a $39 subscription to Playboy magazine and a $29 subscription to Hallmark magazine and $28 subscription to loveseek.com a christian singles dating service.:mad::mad::mad: Now I have to freeze the damn card, wait for a new one, and fill out all the paper work to dispute the charges before my account will be credited.

you guys dont check your statements??

You have to check your statement- this is a MUST!

For this reason I only use one credit card- that's it. So simple now that I don't know why I ever did it any other way. I cancel every account I pay off and intend to only keep one card account open. I know some financial advisers tell you that closing your accounts hurts your credit but I would rather close them then leave myself open and exposed to fraud.

Sucks man. Sounds like a lonely perv got a hold of your card. I have had this happen to me before and it's a terrible situation.

The best company for dealing with this stuff is AMEX. They really take care of their customers.

I had a $30.00 charge on my bank statement one time for like date.com or something. I called my banks fraud unit and it quickly said see yah bye. :banana

I broke up after a 5 year relationship a month before I was to get married. At this point my ex had a lot of my personal info. After we broke up she signed me up to hundreds of dollars of worth of porn sites,(not any that I would visit :naughty) luckily my CC company was able to take care of the situation!

2 year huh....at least its light pornography and mainstream, imagine having to call up and explain how Honcho or Pregnant Sluts wasn't yours....

and a $29 subscription to Hallmark magazine

WTF? So first this guy plays with himself and then is decorative ornaments and knick knacks?

and $28 subscription to loveseek.com a christian singles dating service.

What a catch.

Damn that really sucks. Do you know where they could have gotten it from?

I agree, I had this happen with PayPal once where I won something and never received it. PP told me tough luck basically but AMEX went after PP with a vengeance and I had my money back within days.
