My pc has been acting like ^^^^ for the last couple days, I have McAfee anti virus on my computer and have run scans, but my computer continues to like ^^^^. Slow and annoying.

Any suggestions?

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

1) Shut down your computer when you are done. Leaving it on hibernation whenever you are done slows you down.

2) Defrag your hard drive

3) Clean your desk top

4) Stop filling your hard drive with midget porn

I've also heard a good registry cleaner (ccleaner) speeds things up, but I'm too chicken to try one of those as I think I'd seriously screw things up.

I typically back everything up and then reformat the entire drive once every 1-2 years. It's like getting a new PC. But there is a learning curve to doing this sort of thing, and if you bought your PC at BB and it didn't come with all the SW orginally installed, you may be SOL.

i've run into this problem as well before, best thing to do is mesa says. back up everything you want saved.....and reformat. sometimes reformatting takes less time to do than installing all the security updates again......depending on what operating system you use and how old it is. (i use windows xp bought in 04' i think)

It might also help to go into task manager and see how many background tasks are running. I bet you have a ton of crap running that you don't need (which nuking your hard drive would surely take care of :lol)

I hate reformating, did it a couple times with my old desktop, its not hard, just hate setting everything back up again.

And come to think of it, I have no clue where my windows vista install crap is, dont know if I even have it anymore :monkey4

This ^^

One of the best out there right now. Right after cleaning with CCleaner https://www.ccleaner.com/ which can remove temps files, un used extension, registry keys try scanning with Super Antispyware https://www.superantispyware.com/ I know it sound funny because of the name but both of used in conjunction are a godsend lately.

Also like someone was saying that back processes might be lurking and running in the back ground or applications that you've might installed are running on startup whenever they are not necessary which also takes up RAM/memory.

Do the msconfig trick (Start-Run type "msconfig") and go to the startup menu and uncheck any programs/processes that you know you don't need to use at the current time. This will not remove the program just won't start it up on initialization from the get go whenever you boot ur machine.
