They are planning to sue. He can't attend classes, can't take his final exams with his class and can't graduate with his class. Though they're calling it a suspension, sounds like he's expelled to me. He can take his exams later then get his diploma.

When a school is allowed to control what you do outside of it, then things get a bit scary.

They probably have a morality code they are supposed to adhere to. The kid probably signed something saying they would adhere to it. I imagine it is that school's version of the rulebooks kids have to sign every year at the beginning of school. The ones that no one ever reads, yet sign, saying they did. That is my guess. I could be wrong.

This is just ONE example of why I really don't like the effects of organized religion on society. It's ok to have a belief, but to create a system of rules that exist only to contain people... it's gone too far.

I understand that it's a private school, and they can make rules as they see fit... But I think that those rules only apply to school and anything on school property. I mean, can they expel a student if they go home and listen to the damn radio? It's ridiculous to try and control people to that extent, no matter what religion they fall under.

Days like this make me so damn happy to be free of religious control. :rock

We have rulebooks too, but what happens outside of school isn't in it, unless you're an athlete and you do things that would affect that, like drugs or other illegal activities.

I have a feeling they'll be re-writing their rulebook being more clear about their rules. I'll feel sorry for any kids who are forced to go there by controlling parents.
