Well theres more complaints cause the statue is white. People are ridiculous these days.

He would've ended up white anyhow:

a saw a pic of the statue the other day. but i didn't read any of the articles about it. this is the first i've heard about the asian likeness. i didn't think it looked asian. i thought it had a good likeness although a bit stern looking. likeness shouldn't matter in this case anyway. it's what the statue represents that matters.

art is supposed get people talking... perhaps the chatter will evolve into a discussion about the man's dream.

Saw the thread title and thought "WTF?"

Saw the name of the thread creator and then I understood.

Art is supposed to give spiritual fuel to those who share the vision inherent in the piece. I'm skeptical as to how many in D.C. still share that vision, so I am not surprised that it's been used as another tool for the panderers to pander with.

Hey now. Don't be coming down on Lutherans. I was brought up Lutheran. And although I am no longer religious...I still have a place in my heart for the Lutherans.

They have the best pot luck dinners in all of religion where I come from.:)

(edit) PS - It is not like this is the worst thread that has ever been started on this forum. Cut quiggle some slack.

I guess quiggle couldn't have predicted that nobody could give a crap that a Chinese dude was sculpting this statue. My guess is nobody else but the one guy the reporter managed to find to get a controversial angle on this otherwise feel-good story does either. Ed Dwight. Pfft. Probably just feeling sore about having to spell out his surname every time someone tries to spell it 'White'. No, no, that's DWIGHT. With a D. ED DUH... DWIGHT. Geezus!!! Shoulda just gone with Edward, my life woulda been so much simpler...

People aren't picking on Lutherans so much as giving Quiggle ____ for the title. Is it too much to expect someone to know how to properly spell before starting a thread nowadays? :huh

Other than it looking a bit fat to me, I thought it looked good!

I think it looks fine. He was a bit on the chubby side anyway. As was said earlier, I really hope this sparks conversation over what his teachings stood for. Was talking with a friend earlier today about this, which led to King's teachings, and he was shocked to hear me say that King would've been wholeheartedly against Affirmative Action.
