I've been looking forward to this one for a while, very reminiscent of Nightmare before Christmas (Directed by Henry Selick!), I saw the trailer in 3D last weekend and I think it looks fantastic!

Very cool website: https://www.coraline.com/

Re: Coraline

The novel is fantastic as is the brilliant audiobook read by Mr. Gaiman himself. Yay that Gaiman books are finally being made into films! David Fincher showed interest in a film version of American Gods at one point. I'd love to see that made, but the touchy subject matter and need for a large budget are obstacles.

I'm sure it'll look good as it's directed by the same NB4X director, Henry Selick. I wish the film were a bit darker though and closer in look and design to the original Dave McKean illustrations.

I saw this trailer awhile back and can't wait to see it. My daughter loves NBC so I'm anxious to take her to see this one.

Can't wait to read the book, when I read that it was based on a Gaiman novel I was hooked, especially since it's done in this style. I'll definitely be seeing this in 3D, I was amazed at how cool it looked.

I know very little about this, though the movie trailer definitely caught my eye.
I only have one nagging concern currently preventing me from shelling out $$ to go see it - is this film a musical? I really, REALLY hope not.

I'll probably be shot for saying this, but despite my admiration of the style of animation/character designs, I simply could not get into Nightmare Before Christmas nor Corpse Bride...based solely on the fact that I cannot stand musicals of any kind. No matter how "dark" or "edgy" you make them, I simply roll my eyes when the plot stops to have some ridiculous singalong. I know, I know...I'm a heathen.

Crasis, I can't stand musicals either, but when you understand the amount of work and dedication that goes into animating these type of movies I totally overlook it. I loved NBX and Corpse Bride, music and all! :)

Like I said, I really admire the style, the animation, the designs, etc. I think Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas are absolutely gorgeous to look at and great achievements in art. Hell, I was debating buying some of the collectibles based on a love for the style alone. However, I can't sit through them without wanting to shoot myself every time the characters start their broadway crap. It's something that's bothered me since I was a child, I guess. Disney movies irritated me for similar reasons. I thought I was crazy for the longest time, but my wife surprised me when she revealed she shares my feelings on musicals. :lol I would LOVE to see the guys who do these stop motion films actually tackle subject matter that does not involve wasted minutes of irritating songs. That's why I'm hoping Coraline isn't another musical. I know very little about the film at this point, other than it being based on Neil Gaiman's work. That definitely gives me hope.

There is music in it, a brief bit of singing rats, but it is not a musical.

Looks cool, animation kinda looks old school.

Wonder if the cat is the same one from Vicent and NBC.

There is a black cat that figures prominently in the story, voiced by the recognizably gruff Keith David, voice of the Arbiter in Halo & co star of tons of stuff including Riddick and They Live.

I doubt it has anything to do with Vincent or NB4X other than they are all stop motion. I don't believe Selick had anything to do with Vincent.

In my search for cool things Coraline related I found these...

To commemorate the upcoming theatrical release of Coraline, an animated film based off of Neil Gaiman's original horror novella, Nike and Gaiman have linked up to create the Coraline x Nike Dunk High. The Coraline x Nike Dunk High features a fabric and leather upper done in Earth tones with Black exposed stitching and a large button at the ankle. The design is inspired by the Coraline film

One thousand pairs of the Coraline will be winnable through watching the film and through the Website.

No, it's the one with the glow-in-dark cover and a section with additional material by Gaimen and McKean. It came out at the same time as the regular edition in 2002.
Would you happen to have a pic of it? I'd really like to find one. Thanks in advance.
