Just saw it today. I like Gaiman, but never read the book, but I really liked the film. Very dark and scary - I would have loved to have seen this as a 6 year old - I'm sure it would have terrified me (in a good way). The script was very layered and intricate - like much of Gaiman's writing, but very unusual for a kid's movie.

And the Arclight had the front porch set and a Coraline puppet on display - the detail is amazing.

Great to hear! I love Gaiman, and I have a six year old. :D

We'll go see it next weekend.

Coraline is the reason I go to the movies. Just incredibly imaginative...! I absolutely love stop/go animation when done like this....I loved the movie!

Went to see this yesterday and I LOVED it!! I was a bit upset when we walked in the theater and all the good seats were taken, I thought sitting up close was gonna ruin the experience, boy was I wrong! From the moment it started I was sucked in to Coraline's world, the 3D effects had a lot to do with that, but it is also brilliantly written, animated and voiced. I thought Dakota Fanning and Teri Hatcher were especially good, but the whole cast was also great. I had very high expectations for this movie and I can say that it did not disappoint at all, Selick did a fantastic job with it and to me it ranks right up there with NBX. Take your wife, your kids, go alone, just go see this movie!! :rock

We saw it on Saturday night. It was FANTASTIC, everyone should go see this film. Easily the best "children's" film since NBX, mainly because the writing is sophisticated and doesn't insult younger viewers' intelligences like many other "family" films.

Now where's my Medicom Coraline figure?

Oooh, I'd love a Coraline figure!! Medicom is great with the skinny bodies, so I know they could totally pull one off!! :rock

I didn't get to see it in 3D, but I did see it yesterday with my wife and daughter (she's 4). It was awesome! I'm always glad to see someone still does it the old-fashioned way. CG is nice, but there's something appealing about the characters movements not being perfect. As a Nightmare fan, I had high hopes for this and I was not disappointed!

As for the movie, i didnt know what to expect going in, but coming out I couldnt help but to feel like "what was the point of this 1 hr 40 min film?". :monkey4

is about time the 3d transfers got included along with the 2d versions.
Everytime I've seen Beowulf since seeing it in 3d i feel like there's something missing.
