WOW! Thanks for posting those pix, Fritz! That's perfect -- really great to see them together like that. Of course, now I can't decide again.

Its a tough call. I like them both for different reasons now that I can see them side by side. I do like the green, just because it would jump out amongst my figures, and the details on the claws and the "specs" really look cool... BUT I have to say that the Creature's head does look better in the Silver Screen version. Something about the eyes and the lips just look better -- maybe its the red on the colored one that throws me.

Anyway, I'll be lucky if I can find a reasonable regular version let alone a Silver Screen. I guess I'll just get whichever comes my way.

Green! I have 2 and they are a virtual sculpting masterpiece, Oluf's best work, rubber body suit, etc. just have to have it.

If you are looking on ebay, BE PATIENT! There are about three or four offered on average per week but they are getting scarcer and scarcer. The sales prices now range between $90 and $130. If you are lucky, you can pick one up for between $79 and $90 but 2 were sold for $140 last week with buy it now listings. These are definitely going to go up in price as there is a "Creature From The Black Lagoon" film in the works.

Also, Oluf now has a signature store up and running and will probably/hopefully offer a few of these with signed boxes. I would email him and ask him when and if he's gonna offer them. I have his email address if you need it or you can go to his store site and email him.

Thanks, P! Yeah, my initial "gut reaction" was for the green...but I do kinda like the Silver Screen version too. Something about the face in its B/W incarnation does bring back memories of that movie more than the green. Just the way the lips are lighter -- looks like a Gill-Edward G Robinson!

I do have Oluf's website from some other thread so I'll keep my eye on it. I'd like to remove my creature from the box though, so getting a signed one might defeat the purpose as I'd be tempted to leave it sealed and pristine. That would be great to have though. Imagine what it would be worth in 20 years. Sideshow's "stock" has risen so, so far in just the last year with the Star Wars announcement...who knows how far they'll go in the coming years. I imagine they'll go quite far indeed.

Silver Screen Creature was my second Sideshow figure I got. (1st was Grad Day Buffy) He's one of my favorite figures I own. Can't beleive I got him MIB for $15.00 & a MIB Palisades Tour Animal. :D

15 dollars!!! Luckyyyyyyyyyyy!

Quick segue -- how is grad Buffy? I just posted in Whedonville to see what was the "popular" Buffy 12".

IMO it's the best Buffy released so far. To bad she was made before the shorter female bodies. If you want I can snap some pics of her for you.

Thanks, Aerosmith. If you want to, or its convenient, sure I'd love to see pix. But I do agree that she's the best Buffy to get from the online pix I've seen. Just curious what people thought that actually own her. Thanks for the assist :D

Personally I like the Silver Screen Creature better which is kind of odd since I usually prefer the color versions. It's probably because it reminds me of the films more than the green Creature. Plus I think it's painted better. Like creecher, I got it off the wait list a while back and had to resort to eBay for the regular version.

Here are some pictures that may help you decide.

Agreed, again! Grad day is best SMG likeness, again Oluf!

SSE or Regular, you really can't go wrong with either. The Creature really is a fabulous 12" figure. Maybe the best ever created by anyone! :rock

I'm surprised at the condition, but then again, maybe not! If I were rich I don't think I would care anyway!!! :lol

Actually, I had several expert Creature collectors tell me that the Profiles Creature mask is a fake. They said that it is a modified Don Post mask, which is most readily seen by the unique red lips.

Supposedly this mask made the rounds on various high-end auction circuits and everytime it was taken down due to its dubious lineage/provenance.

I actually contributed to Profiles taking the auction down originally. I e-mailed them with my information, and they pulled the auction.

The thing to watch out for with Profiles auctions is that there are many HIGHLY questionable items that they put up for sale. They don't do enough background research.

I still really love that Ben Chapman full size Creature. :wacky

I actually considered unloading all my high end Lord of the Rings items and picking it up! :horror
