I was a big fan of the first Crysis, and part of the reason I built my own pc last year was so that I could play the game (and its expansion, Warhead) smoothly.

I'm looking forward to this the sequel, which should be easier on lower-spec rigs now, considering the game is also being released for consoles.

Crysis 2. Takes place in the urban jungle of New York City this time instead of the tropical island of the original.

Hmm.... I also loved the first game. I thought it was really cool that you could select the Koreans to speak their native tongue. But I thought Crysis was supposed to be a game that could never make it on the consoles because it was so demanding of the hardware?

Crysis 2 will be running on the new Crytek 3 engine, which apparently is optimized for console performance.

Wow!...When the first one came out I was really impressed with it, can wait to play the sequel in the PS3/Xbox 360.

I'm excited for this, but I really hope they're only showcasing console versions at the moment... because from videos and screen shots available, the graphics don't even look as good as the first Crysis. The second game should look better, not worse damn it!

Hard to judge until the final game ships. I know the C3 engine scales back really well to accomodate consoles and lower spec PCs, but I'm sure it would look great with all the settings set to max.

I do agree with you though. For Crysis 2 I don't want it to look like Crysis when I play it on my pc. The developers should have learned by now how to maximize graphical detail without the toll on PC resources like in the first Crysis. We shouldn't expect anything less than that. Frankly, I can't run Crysis at max settings, but I like the way it looks on my PC, and I expect Crysis 2 to look way better at the same settings.

Yeah, makes no sense.

To be fair, the reason why the first Crysis never caught on was because it was a resource hog pc exclusive.

No excuse this time, folks! The developers say that it won't be necessary to play through the first to jump in and enjoy Crysis 2!
