As for those two emails, which arrived at the same time implying a glitch in sending, I don't think I was expecting any rewards anyway. They certainly weren't for the '4 pm' SSN shows as I didn't watch them.

However, the wording of them hints that it was for signing into one of the Sideshow.live codes, because the rewards were for "joining us".

I did receive two separate emails for $2 each, but only one of the $2 actually increased my rewards total. The second $2 didn’t change my balance.

Same here. Two $2 emails which caused me to float with excitement in my house only to crash on my bathroom floor when I saw my account is only $2 richer, not $4 richer.
