I dug up the old Custom Figure Challange and have these to repost:

I'm going to be honest, this isn't a character I know a whole lot about. I'm a visual person and if I like how a character looks, I usually like the character. Black Mask is one of those characters. Early versions of his mask suck. I'm a huge fan of the newer Skull Mask. I took it a step further and basically made him "The Black Skull" :lol

The outfit was ripped off directly from THE Batman animated series version of the character. It consists of Sideshow's Scarface suit and vest and hands and gun. The shirt and tie from Storerooms and the shoes and socks standard Sideshow dress versions.

The head is from the SDCC Freddy Kruger. It is the skull accessory he came with. I simply cut off an Art S. Buck's head and glued and sculpeyed the skull on top. It is still very fragile (had to glue it back together once before painting) but it seems to be sturdy enough now.

Here is a character I know a bit more about. Jim Gordon. My take on him is that he is basically Horatio Caine without the cheese factor (although I couldn't help but put a Horatioesque pose in there ;) ). Basically he is a nice guy and would do anything to help children deal with what crimes have happened to them, but he isn't afraid to pull the trigger first. The CSM sculpt I used seemed perfect for a face that could both be nice and serious at the same time.

Shirt and tie and glasses are from Giles, the rest of the suit from Storerooms.

I've since given him Connor's trenchcoat.

Yeah you took it wee bit too far, he has a mask, and is not a skull.
But it looks good though

No, it is a skull mask:

I probably should add some eyes to him eventually though. Though I do admit I went more with a "red skull's black cousin" look more than an actual skull mask. But hey, Red Skull started out whering a skull mask too. Plus the DCD Black Mask figure from a few years ago was more skull face than mask so I'm not totally out in left field on the look.

Sorry that was a bad way of putting it. I meant to say he has a mask and HE isn't a skull

In that case, yeah, you are right.

I suppose I should explain the challange a bit. Last year, we had a challange ,for anyone that one that wanted to participate, to make an original version of an established character. The Dark Knight had just come out and Batman was on a lot of people's minds. DarkArtist made a fantastic Scarecrow and Mr. Freeze. Les made some awesome 1930/40's Batman figures including Two-face and Robin. I chose to make my version of Gordon and this take on the Black Mask. Like I said, I went more of a "red skull" route with him rather than an actual mask. I do realize the "mask" is an important part of the character seeing as it is half of his name :lol

But I'm happy with my custom and that is all that really matters at the end of the day.

Here is a link to the challenge by the way. Lots of nice Batman customs in there to look at:

Here's a little tease of my riddler WIP

Got the suit set in the post today and dyed it, turned out really good!

Only downside is that I have green tinted hands now haha.

I only need to pick up a body and tie, then I'll have everything I need for the custom =]

Finished this guy today. I got two chase Batmans for Christmas due to a lack of communication between my father and girlfriend. I decided to keep both knowing this would be an easy one to put together. Took seven weeks to actually get the parts but I finally got it completed.

Originally I wanted him pinstriped but I'm scared it won't turn out well. My HT bash will be wearing a pinstriped suit so I can do without it on this scale.

can you post pics of your custom jokers?

I would love to, if I had them. I lost my Nicholson Joker pics in the crash. There may be a couple somewhere on my site.

This is the closest thing I have to a Joker. I never decided what to do with the hair, though I'm leaning toward a series of interchangeable rubber wigs.

crash? what crash?

crash? what crash?

A couple months ago my hard drive completely crashed. Wiped everything. And I couldn't find my recovery discs, either. My buddy Marc (guy I did the Gordon for) walked me through the hard drive install, hooked me up with replacement software for Windows XP, Photshop... everything. Really saved my butt and probably saved me a couple grand. I still think it's odd that Les Walker, DarkArtist81 and myself all crashed right around the same time.
