Custom Figure Base/Diorama WIP

I'm making a figure base/Diorama for my MMS DX Joker, when he arrives, and I thought, why not do a WIP progress whilst I'm making it, show off what it looks like through the stages.

Since it'll be done such a long time before the joekr gets here, I'm thinking of putting the custom riddler I'm making on it as a stand in

I'm also thinking of making a second base for the punisher custom I'm going to be making.

Today I carved out the wall, and then painted it up, I'm now about to start work on something else for the base, but yes.

Here's the base so far:

It's extruded foam, that pink (sometimes blue, I think) stuff you can get in diy shops

Also, thanks =D

It's still in it's first stages at the moment, it will be made more batman/joker themed as the project continues

here's the makings of the floor for the base, obviously unpainted at the moment.

great work so far mate!

ive been thinking of having a go at doin a base for a couple of figs. is the brick wall look u did easy enough to carve into that foam stuff ugot ??

Yeah, it's really really easy.

I just marked out the spaces, and then using a steel ruler, used a pencil to carve it in, as it putsa nice depth and space between each 'brick'

fantastic wall, you paint job makes it look so real, do you have any pictures of what the foam looks like before you sculpted the wall? I can't wait to see what this looks like when your done. Beautiful work!

In the photo that show's the unpainted texture on the floor, the little orange block things are small pieces of the foam. (here's a photo from a google seartch of the pink stuff https://www.hovercrafters.com/brendin/08202336.jpg)

Here's an update of the base, got posters and some weathering going on in it.

I'im not gonna lie, I was inspired by the base elvis made, but it's not going to be a copy of it, it will be different in quite a few aspects.

Those of you up on your batman knowledge will see some nice 'easter eggs' as it were from the posters

Another update on it.

I've got some painting done on the floor of it, and I've added some sculpted litter to it, got some gum trodden into it, and at the back, some discarded cigarette butts.

Will be adding more to it, but not sculpted.

cool mate thanks for the tip. where u buy this stuff from that u used for the floor and wall? did ya jst use acrylic paints aswel once u had carved the bricks>?

its awsome, ive not done anything like this, would be cool to have a go for my joker figure, and maybe also try do one for my jason part 2 figure, not sure what tho.

the extruded foam was bought from a B&Q warehouse, the floor is made from plasticard propped on balsa, then covered in tile grout with a hirst arts mould for the curb.

And yes, it's just acrylic paints.

Dude that is so awsome, Id love to have a similar set up for my DarkArtist Rorschach. If you ever decide to make these to be sold Id definitly be down. Awsome stuff.

I'm actually going to be making myself a base for a rorschach custom I'm thinking of making, PM me and, I can see about making one for you.

Yes, it's just glued together.

The plasticard is this stuff: https://www.ripmax.com/5index.asp?category=W6400&selectedtab=130
And the tiling grout is stuff used for when tiling (as the name suggests :p)
Basla is just a very very soft wood, used in multitudes of custom/modelling projects

I will post more photos of the project either later, or tomorrow =]

Ha!! Very nice...love the inserted adverts for the Flying Graysons and Mask of Zorro :D
