One thing that I always wanted was a 1/6 figure of myself. I wouldn't mind having a Jedi Mike of well....Jedi_Mike but finding people who will take the commission without charging an arm and a leg and a thigh and bicep and shoulder and well you get the idea but with so many talented customizers on these boards and seeing how some of them have entered into the completely custom figure I was wondering if anyone had a figure of themselves on their shelves?

That's funny JM...I've been thinking on doing that very thing for this next year.
I'd love to pose myself in action with Darth Maul, Vader, Predators, Aliens, you name it!

What action shots those might be! :rotfl

I've never ever thought about doing a custom figure of myself.... but now that you've mentioned it...... I WANT ONE :lol

I've always wanted one... If anything he could be the virtual "me", posed showing the figures I paint and the new ones in my collection. If I could sculpt you can bet your ass I would have already done one! :rotfl

That's actually a very good idea. But I imagine the time, money, and skill involved would make it a rather prohibitive and expensive commission.

Although...I have to admit that the idea of having a 1/6 figure of myself is a very enticing idea...especially since I could technically be a Jedi, Highlander, etc.

I've actually got 12" figures of my wife and myself in our Wedding garb. I made them with some help. They stood next to the cake at my Wedding Reception. Lisa is a Cy Girl and I'm a Sideshow. I'm always looking for a better head, though. I've got a reapinted Max Steel right now, which is okay, but I'd love to replace it with a Hot Toys Hicks head. That looks more like me. Anyone got a spare?

Does anyone here or elsewhere do custom heads? I've seen a few online but the prices really vary. I've seen them go for as little as $60 and as high as $500.....

you're right Mike, the prices for an artist's time can vary wildly. I've seen the same kinds of prices as you have. I'll end up doing custom heads probably. I do custom everything else... oil painting commissions, repaints, resculpts.... so doing custom sculpts of people seems like another thing to add to the list.

I'll do more 'practice' first though, even though I'm comfortable in how good I am, I have enough things to be getting on with for people so far, which I'm using as my 'learning and practice time'. Eventually I'll start accepting custom requests from people probably. I should add a section to pennylanepictures.com really for my figure work.

For me the price is dependant on how long something takes me, a repaint takes a few days, a custom oil painting portrait takes a few months... and a custom 1/6 scale head sculpt? well I'm not sure yet...... I'm guessing a few days to a few weeks, depending on how much else I'm doing at the time :lol

but you're right... the prices vary hugely.

HA if you're ever interested in taking on a custom project like a "portrait" for a 1/6 figure definitely let me know, I'm interested.

There was a company that was doing this, but everytime you mention their name the thread turns into a hate rant. I wish they would have stayed out of the personal sculpt business and stuck to celebrity heads, as the quality of both sculpt and paint was some of the best I have seen. After a few years of looking I was finally able to find someone willing to part with a set of Pulp Fiction Travolta and Jackson heads. Still hunting for some of the other sculpts they offered. After some searching on the web, I was able to find out who the sculptors were, but they don't seem interested in doing custom work as I have tried several times to commission them. They offered to put me on a wait list, but it will be fall before they even consider taking on more work. Good luck to anyone considering going this route, as an artist or a buyer.

they already have a figure of me...I just have to get it....

That company had more problems than branching out into custom sculpts. The sculptors they used were not part of the problem though and are tough to commission as their work is still seen in the 1:6 community, even if folks are unaware of it. Top notch stuff theirs is.

My understanding was that they started out doing the custom figures of regular people (like hero builders), and then started doing more celebrity heads. It's a shame they couldn't pull out of the nose dive, because their stuff that did get made was as good or better than anything I've seen on the market, custom or mass produced. Guess I'll keep hunting for the elusive pieces I can't get from them anymore.

If any one finds some one who does this, let me know. I have been wanting to put myself on display in an Astronaut Suit beside my Sideshow POTA Taylor and Brent as well as a Slave Version of me.

as far as that company goes, i heard they were just...well criminal. taking money for nothing, ect.

as for Sunohc, i bet he would do it. i know he's taken commissions to make "average Joes" before.

To fit in with the Sideshow Brent the 1:6 you should not resemble you at all. :monkey5

I want my own Figure Master Les and Dark Artist to put in my pocket and take to work with me:D
