Hey all,

Being a noob that I am, I noticed that some people would buy a figure and then swap out the body, accessories, etc. to make them look better or create a new character. My question is, to do all that, wouldn't that cost just way too much to do? I've seen threads where people swapped a Wesker body for Snake Eyes, or go w/ a TT body, etc, these custom figures can cost a lot of money after that! How much have you spent to do one custom figure? :horror

well it dies get expensive.swapping bodies and such. last year l finally had all the parts together to do a custom deniro from heat.the bank seen. l bought the red planet toys sculpt that was painted by a professional that was $100 alone for the head by the time l got it and everything else, and the hot toys suit. the total was just under $300. never fully put him together because after a year of getting parts. l ended up selling everything off after l got everything. :slap l got $120 for the head alone though so made a small profit there.

Well often i can spend like 350-400$ on a custom fig.
SO if you don't want to spend for custom figure you chose the wrong hobby.

Not saying I chose the wrong hobby, just curious as to how much it can cost after awhile, and if I don't have the $ for it, either stick w/ the retail figure or go for a custom!

Well like i said most of the times my custom fig cost me between 300 to 500$.
Depends on the piece.

Just depends. Sometimes a licensed version of a character does not exist, so a custom is the only way to go. The more detail you want the more you will end up paying.

I usually don't even think about the cost. Most of the time it varies on price too. Sometimes it's just $20-30 to switch to a TT, and others I could be buying a muscle body or some fabric to sew some clothes or accessories to make the figure more accurate.

The most I've payed for a single custom figure is $600. I pretty much only collect customs anymore for a few reasons.

Obviously with the price, it's hard to fit it other scales or pieces. Secondly they are much funner as a hobby, instead of just order and wait, I get to spend time finding everything needed, modding it, or sending it off to get painted.

By the time I'm finsihed a single figure it's somthing 2-3 or more people all over the world have taken a part in making for me and that entire process makes the collectible far more special then anything you can just plop down money to buy in a store.

It does get expensive but like they say you have a one of kind. I love all of my figures but the customs have something special. Almost all of my manufactured figures have some kind of touch that I put on them. Makes them mine. Im also not the kind of person to sell things.

I recently spend like $300 on a custom-ed /kit-bashed Milla Jovovich from Resident Evil 3 (Yeah I know, I could have gotten the Bros Production Milla, but they were sold out). The other customs I've done are going for that price. I just don't think about the price that much, I'd just go for it.

Once you kitbashed, you can never go back, unfortunately. hehe

I own only 4 customs figures: Blade:Trinity, Punisher: War Zone(Ray Stevenson), Jigsaw and Punisher(Tomas Jane) and still up grade my customs, I have Elvis working in my Punisher:War Zone, I think I spend almost $1600.00 in this figures.

I do love compiling all the parts needed to make a custom *perfect* in my eyes. Takes forever, but it's fun the whole time.

Customizing makes this hobby mean something. Buying figures is cool, don't get me wrong but when I build a figure or paint a sculpt, it makes it worth so much more to me. It's something I can be proud of.

The basic principle of a high end custom figures.:lecture

They cost 100's just to make, so they always sell for more than that.
Because of the high talent level with all the artists involved,
you're really getting more than a 1/6 figure.
You're getting a work of art that no one else has.

:clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

It's kind of a sickness yes. I spend waaaaay too much yes. but after 200 down, the extra money to make it the way I want it don't really matter any more.

I really really need to cut down though, like really bad.

I'm working on a Joker figure that I've almost got assembled. The headsculpt was $375, the body with a custom-made shirt and tie as well as the DX Joker clothing was $170, and I got a few other assorted pieces were $30.

So basically $575 for the figure. Everything else I customize myself, this is the only one I've found that is better than what I can do, and it was worth every penny.

I don't think you want to know how much I am investing on current projects I'm working on within the last 2 months. But in the end, It will be well worth it to have a closer, more accurate figures. IMHO.
