It's kind of a sickness yes. I spend waaaaay too much yes. but after 200 down, the extra money to make it the way I want it don't really matter any more.

I really really need to cut down though, like really bad.

:lecture:lecture:lecture Me too :( , it's already getting out of hand, haha.

I don't think you want to know how much I am investing on current projects I'm working on within the last 2 months. But in the end, It will be well worth it to have a closer, more accurate figures. IMHO.

:lol I hear ya, It's literally driving me insane trying to remember everything. The only drawback I can think of.

Don't think you have to spend so much depends on your budget.

I am new to this but find it pays to shop around;)

This hobby brings a lot into my life and is a great outlet for my stress but it just costs so much and is seriously an addiction. I'll never be rich buying all the toys I do :( :D

the thing is, nobody is forcing you to swap out bodies or add custom parts to a figure. it's something you have to want to do yourself. don't just do it cuz everybody else is doing it. i would like new bodies for most of my figures but that just isn't economically possible for me. so i usually keep most of my figures on the bodies they come with.
if you're gonna customize from scratch, expect to pay a lot. heads and paint jobs alone will run about $100. that's why i don't understand why people freak out whenever they see customs selling for $200-$300. i put about $1000 into these custom GB figures. i made them completely from scratch. if i ever wanted to sell them i'd have to charge at least $1000 just to break even on the figures and if i wanted money for my labor it would be higher yet. people would laugh in my face and probably suggest mental therapy:lol

I love that pic. I can't wait for mine to come back from Seb!

A few things that always keep me okay with the money I spend:

A.) EVERYTHING is re-sellable and I'm miserly when I buy, so I almost always make money when I sell. And I've gotten good at knowing when to buy at retail (HT Preds, T2) and when to wait for gohastings (SS SW), which helps too.

B.) I have great connections with the people here that do the fantastic custom work, so the $$$ for something über-cool is worth the cheddar.

C.) My collection kicks ass and I have tons of room, so adding stuff isn't a pain and I get to immerse myself in it all the time. Spinning around in my chair and gawking at my _____in' collection could be something I charge admission for.

D.) I make good money and have no kids and I'd just spend it on hookers, beer, and drugs anyway. :rock

Great GB collection. True labor of love and it shows, bravo!! Would love some someday but havnt seen any custom heads done yet that are up to my standards,

back to the subject I think the best absoulte thing about the 1/6 collecting bug besides that it's the nicest looking damn collectables out there is that EVERYTHING can be improved snd completely customized you your liking. It really feels great when you do little things to make a good figure even better... Give him better shoes, a more detailed head repaint, an alternate outfit or fun add ons. It's more involving than collecting 6 inch figures all those years.

And the great thing is nothing really de values if god forbid something happend with the rare gems in my collection I'd probably come out ahead of what i spent by a fair bit.

It pained me to spend 350 on my first rainman head and outfit set even though it was for an a time holy Grail of mine. That same set just sold for 1000 on eBay!

Hey all,

Being a noob that I am, I noticed that some people would buy a figure and then swap out the body, accessories, etc. to make them look better or create a new character. My question is, to do all that, wouldn't that cost just way too much to do? I've seen threads where people swapped a Wesker body for Snake Eyes, or go w/ a TT body, etc, these custom figures can cost a lot of money after that! How much have you spent to do one custom figure? :horror

I can't even calculate the amount I've spent on some figures. I just know that when you're really into it, and have a goal, you don't really think about the money.

Very cool set, would love to make my own but have a baby on the way and will have to sell some of my collection.
Very addictive hobby and freinds family just don't get it.
Even I have to question myself sometimes when the bank account is empty like now and I have 5 or 6 unfinished projects lying around.

I think I need to stay away from this site as it puts ideas in my head or just learn to focus on one project at a time.

How much do you want for your set will you take an IOU?:clap

i have to agree i have spent several hundred dollars on differant figures it is true this hobby is expensive but to me and so many other dedicated collector/customizers it is beyond money to us, it is this.....: "1/6 there's NOTHING like it"=beyond $$$ it something so much more...
