Hey guys,

Recently I've been more and more tempted to do a deep dive on the Endor Rebel Strike Team/Commandos and I'm wondering if anyone here has tried this or feels the old Sideshow team are even worth trying to customize and update to get as close as possible to current standards and film accuracy. Does anyone here even have any good reference pis of the film costumes? I've found there is very few online, and even less that are of any helpful quality/resolution.

The outfits/gear from these are pretty good considering their age. The helmets are a bit too big, but they work.

Here is a pic of mine I did a few years ago. I repainted the undersuit. Id like to do a few more, but they are getting expensive given what needs to be done to them to make them look presentable.

Sorry, don't have any reference pictures handy.

He's looking good. I had also though about using those spats from Boba for the Commando's gaiters. It seems like in the film, the production or costume team couldn't decide whether the lacing on the gaiters was meant to face forward or not. I think they're technically meant to face backwards, but so many pics have them facing the toes.

Sorry to dig up a 2 year old thread, but I've always wanted to update these figures since buying them when they first came out nearly 2 decades ago! I just started looking for the original SSF release thread on these guys, but it's been so long since these first came out that I think it's gone? I just pulled out my set of three this week to start playing with and doing some research to update them to modern times.

There isn't much in the way of reference images out there, but I was able to find some key images regarding gear. So many websites that break down figures have all these small parts that are no longer molded plastic, but real fabric that actually update these figures quite well. Some simple paint work and body swaps can also make these much more appealing and less doll-like.

LoveMinusZero, have you done any work to your figures since posting this?

Hey, Artoo, thanks a lot for the pics.
I am thinking of trying my hand at this too.
Have you considered using tan ww2 gaiters?
Thx.

I have thought about that and have a pair in my cart currently, but upon more research, I found out they were more than likely custom made for the actors. I found some good info looking at Cosplay sites were they discuss the actual items worn in the film and break them down to build their costumes, but personally I'm also not a stickler for complete screen accuracy.

Used all the sideshow stuff just changed the body and head… the helmet needs a bit of work but it makes a big difference

Those look great Bob! Nice to see this thread alive again.

I updated mine a couple of months ago. I still want to add some more pouches and gear to him.

I have a second one I want to do, but getting the color to match on outfit has been a pain. I can't really what I did on this one a couple of years ago.

After doing all this research lately, it's funny to look back and see these guys were $60 in 2006! You can still get them pretty cheap on eBay and fix them up with new bodies, gear and a little weathering for less than most complete figures go for nowadays.

I’m afraid I haven’t got a sideshow helmet to compare with as I’ve already changed them… if you look at hot toys Luke helmet it’s a lot smaller at the front and back… just under 10 mm so all you have to do is put some sandpaper on a flat surface and sand away .. I also trimmed the peak down a bit… the photo with the arrows should give you a rough idea how much can be taken off
