So I just got a SS Dream Warriors Freddy today (thanks again GrueSam :D), and although I haven't had much time to play around with him yet, I'm already looking into upgrading him onto a new body, since the Buck does not suit my needs for him at all (Freddy is so expressive and characteristic, something the Buck can't achieve IMO).

So what I need a bit help with, what body would you guys recommend? I'm a fan of the Trueypes, so I'm favoring the new TT with narrow shoulders at the moment, since I think the slim version might end up too skinny... any opinions?

Well Robert Englund is pretty skinny so that is the way to go. If you really want to make it pop though, make a custom metal glove for him. :D

Blind Voyeur... what a show off

:lecture

Seriously though, that glove is excellent BlindVoyeur . I'll probably just repaint mine though (along with weathering the clothes, I'll have to ask DarkArtist for some tips on that).
About the slim TT, I reckon the sweater would probably look baggy as hell. It would fit Englund's frame better though, that's true. Hm... *scratches head*

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

Yeah, Englund was kind of skinny and wiry so I'd think the slim TT would be the better choice. The narrow shoulder version is still going to be pretty broad in the chest and legs.

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

Im picking up my part 1 Freddy tomorrow:D. I'm planning on cutting off the tears that makes it seem like he was wearing a turtle neck jumper before it was tattered.

I may try to make a 1/6 glove for him after seeing BlindVoyeurs'. I've made a full scale one before but im guessing six times smaller would be very difficult.

As for which body to choose, i'd look for a medium height, skinny body.

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

Has anybody ever tried to or had success taking DW Freddy's sweater off? I have the feeling the head is actually bigger than the neck hole... guess I'll have take the head off first then. I also don't know if the sweater will come off over the arms, everything seems like a really tight fit. I'm thinking that I may have to take the whole arms off... I hate the Buck anyways though, so it won't really matter if it's broken afterwards or not. :wacky
I also noticed that the body SS used is fricking huge too! He towers over most of my other figs. They just reused the clothes from the original Freddy I assume? Was the short Buck not developed yet at the time?

I've also decided to go with the new slim TT for Freddy, the chance is higher that the "soul-bodysuit" will fit, and if the arms are too skinny I can still pad them out.

Here are some pics. I already cut the ugly frayings off in the last pic, although that's just a temporary fix until I take the sweater off, then I'll get into the real weathering and cutting, trying to make it look kinda like this:

Anyways, here are the pics:

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

a good way to weather the sweater is to use sand paper, it will get rid of that boxy "i cut this with scissors" look

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

Well heres what i've done with my part 1 figure.
sorry about the size of the pictures.:monkey3

My attempt at making the green sludge that comes out of him when he cuts himself, but the lighting makes it look like snot :lol

His cut fingers, I used a cheap indiana jones figure for it.

Him in a burnt springwood slasher jacket.

All i've done so far is cut the frilly bits off his jumper, whether his jumper, made the cut hand, made the green sludge thing and made him a burnt leather jacket. Any suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appriectiated.

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

Very nice, the hand with the severed fingers turned out really cool.
Like RICEaRONI mentioned, you can weather the sweater some more with sand paper, that really adds realism to it as it gets that worn look.
I don't know how you feel about the color of the sweater, but I definitely want to make mine darker, like the ones from King Darkness seen here https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1447559&postcount=462
Have to ask him how he made those, if he used a special kind of dye or just soaked the sweaters in water mixed with paint.

I have a few problems with the sweater, like the stripes are more black than green and in the first film he had no stripes on his arms.

Wow, I just rewatched NOES 1 and 3 the other day, I didn't notice he didn't have the stripes on the arms in the first one. I never knew that.. guess you learn something new every day. :D
As for the stripes, I know they are supposed to be green, but they always look more like black in the movies to me (probably because of the dark lighting) so I'm fine with those on the fig. It's mostly the red that's too bright IMO.

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

Been a while since I updated (over two years :lol), because I put this on hold and all the parts were put away in a box.
I finally decided to finish him though.

Today I repainted the head, trying to mimic SilentSurfer's excellent repaint. I know his eyes aren't blue, but I really liked the look and decided to go with it.
Here are some pics:

More updates to come in the following weeks, when the body arrives and when I make the metal blades.

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

Looks MUCH better with the repainted eyes. Ive had this project on hold for a year too.
Great to see you back working on this guy.

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

I really like the re-paint! When I did those the intent was for him to be looking to one side. SS never wanted to do the production paint that way.

Thanks. :)

Whoa, a comment from the sculptor himself! Thanks a lot, glad you like the repaint. The eyes to the side really make the likeness pop IMO.

Here are some more shots of the head. Unfortunately I haven't made any progess on the rest of the figure, as the body and metal still haven't arrived, and the hat I got turned out to be too big.

Re: Customizing Freddy Krueger

Hey, nice stuff Agonistes! I just picked up an original Freddy and a FvJ Freddy and plan on sprucing them up when they arrive. I was searching for sweater tips when I came across this head. :rock
