Yeah, Giorgio is an immediate pleaser. The first time I heard it kick in after "Everybody calls me Giorgio", I was bugging.

But as much as I like the spoken word intro, I suspect I would like an instrumental version of that track pretty soon.

I would like one without the talking, too. It is such a great track.

This is a nice, creative little group, no doubt. But Beatles comparisons of any kind. . .I dunno about that. Besides, everyone knows that the best Beatles album is Abbey Road. :panic:

I wasn't comparing Daft Punk with The Beatles, I meant this album is the equivalent of what The White Album was to The Beatles...
Not saying either it's their "best" or "most popular" album, but what I mean is it's an Album that clearly reflects the musicians evolution into a more complex and refined work... just like "OK Computer" was to Radiohead, or even "Dark Side of the Moon" to Pink Floyd, that's all!! :wave

There's talks of a remix album coming later, I'm sure it will include that track...

I wish Game of Love and Within weren't so close together on the album. They aren't identical, but the slow tempo, vocoder-ed english vocals in a French accent blur them a little bit.

I see. . .still, I would never use any comparison ever between this group and the Beatles. Even if you're just talking hair style or dietary preferences.

The only band that can do such a thing is, of course, Oasis.

I'm a Beatles pervert, where I take almost personal offense to anything remotely disparaging to them.

But I've never had a problem with these types of comparisons. Someone could say "This album is Creed's 'White Album' / 'Sgt. Pepper / etc". I'd get an idea of what they meant, and would assume (dear God, I would hope) that it would simply be a comparison of the album's attempt in scope or theming, not of actual output quality.

The Beatles : White Album :: Daft Punk : RAM

Proto-Punk.

I'm super excited for the Daft remixes Daft album. While I'm really liking RAM, I'd also like to hear a version made solely by the duo.

After four+ listens, the albums opening up to me a bit more. I was underwhelmed the first listen, with only a few tracks sticking out. But as you listen again, things make sense in the sense of an actual, self-contained album.

It's not a collection of singles, of tracks to get people bouncing on the dance floor. And this will no doubt put off a LOT of people.

One minor nitpick is, it's rather odd to have a song about dancing, called Lose Yourself to Dance, that has a BPM that is not very good for, you know, dancing.

I'm listening to this now. Not bad.

Some of you may also enjoy Powerglove and Laserhawk.

Are you serious? Oasis?...
:yuck
Oasis sucks and I just don't understand why some people have it in such high regard.
Their style is boring, their lyrics are forced, the are rip-offs of ripoffs and have zero creativity...

Daft Punk>The Beatles

Any day of the week. :lecture

I wouldn't compare them at all... apples and oranges...

Depends on what type of dancing you like...

While Kara was clearly joking, I have to step in to defend Oasis. I don't think people understand how much talent goes into writing the tight pop music that Noel does so well.

:D

I'll admit, it probably is good for the "white guy holding two invisible heavy suitcases" type of dancing I do at weddings. But not so much for the "drunken idiot dancing" I do at live shows.

Sorry, I'm referring to an incident when Oasis did actually compare themselves to the Beatles way back in the day. Of course John Lennon also compared the Beatles to Jesus :lol

I think Kara was kidding :lol
In any case, I really hate Oasis, but I'm sure they are liked by a lot of people... I just don't see them as talented at all... not their music, nor their lyrics, and sure as hell not their "personalities"
But to each their own! :duff

Ok this was funny!! :lol:lol:lol

I posted this a while back in the "Listening to..." thread, but in case someone somehow hasn't seen this yet:

I actually think I like this more than DP's version. Especially with the video - he looks like he's having so much fun. Also, I hate this guy for being so good at everything.
