Are any of you concerned by the "Composed of high-quality polystone and PVC" notation on the pre-order page? I was just about to place my order but don't want to see another situation like the Christopher Reeve Superman so I'm going to hold off for now. Not even the new Spiderman PFs have that disclaimer. The prototype is absolutely stunning, however.

Ordered the EX!

I had to order her. This is a must have for me ...even with its current base. A bigger Phoenix Bird and no silver ring would've been better. No biggie, tho ...she makes up for it.

The flames are probably the only thing that will be PVC

No way, those have to be clear resin. There's no point in making them PVC, if they are, this thing is badly overpriced (for real). I can swallow the higher price tag knowing that clear resin is more expensive and requires more labour than standard resin, as the two head sculpt are much more detailed than almost any other human head sculpt ever done by Sideshow.
I'm guessing the sash and the strands will be made out of PVC. Is there a way to ask Alex, on here?

Oh crap, PVC? I wonder what part is made of PVC? As for the flames, if its the same material as the XM Phoenix, it should look great in person. I did not see the PVC part. I suppose as long as you don't see insane seams and the paint is good, it should be fine. Are there any good examples of a PVC statue?

Gecco Guts statue.

PVC is a great material actually, it's just that it requires very high production numbers and it feels cheap (but it's not). It comes in many grades, like resin, the Gecco stuff for example is on a whole other level than the crappy junk PVC used for the Man of Steel PF.
If somethinf can be done with resin, should be. Only thing here that could be better with PVC is the sash, to prevent breakage, like with Goblin's bag

IF I got one, I would repaint it green, add nip hint, insert steel rod into leg, and if possible, light the base. :)

I wouldn't b surprised if the face is pvc. Looking at her and RS it makes me wonder if that's how they are going to pull off the more realistic faces. I was looking at all my ss x female statues last night and they all had fairly basic faces. They all work well together. The higher level of detail on this piece will make her different than the rest of the collection. I was thinking because hot toys always had better likeness because they done use polystone...could b the same here. That being said I haven't seen a 1/4 pvc statue that looked good. I wonder

With other pieces, I've noticed that there have been PVC "parts" even though that was never mentioned on the order page and that is perfectly fine. I've only ever seen SSC state PVC on an order page when the statue itself is made of PVC. Considering that she has a heavy lean in her stance, it does concern me that the whole statue is PVC with a polystone base.

Don't get me wrong, I have Blitzway's Marilyn Monroe already and also have their new Rocky on order because their prototypes so closely match the finished product; they are so good that the PVC use is not an issue. On the other hand, SSC did a poor job on both the Christopher Reeve and MOS pieces (although the suit on MOS is one of the nicest they have ever done).

I want this one but I don't want to get "burned" by them yet again. Also, this one weighs 9 pounds less than the new Red Sonja so that weight difference cannot solely be attributed to the more ornate base.

Pretty sure her sash will be PVC, if it were polystone then it would be break city.

Exactly

I don't know much about using PVC for finer details such as makeup application, however it looks more detailed than previous polystone head sculpts.

And lately these newer pieces look more dolled up, so maybe the sash and portrait heads are made of PVC for those exact reasons.

I don't own this statue but I take it, this is PVC?

Makeup looks more detailed than any polystone female head sculpt I've received from SS, maybe that's an indication of the quality we will get with DP

I keep telling myself if the portrait heads turn out as nice as the prototype, the price will be worth it.

If they screw those up (at these prices) there won't be much debate as to getting my money back

The Green Goblin has the same description and alex confirmed it's only the bag and the strands. She also said in the future it will be more common, I think she was referring to this and maybe the sash on Capt Marvel too. As for the difference in weight - the base is substantially smaller than Red Sonja. You would be surprised how heavy can be that snake if full, and clear resin is usually a bit lighter IIRC.
Is there an ask thread on this board to ask directly to alex? Would make things much faster and clearer
