I'm a big Superman fan and Darkseid is my favorite enemy and I can afford this but I can't seem to pull the trigger. I really want to like this but I'm struggling. I think for me the issue is he feels really uninspired. It just doesn't feel like Darkseid. He is bigger, meaner, more stoic, more composed, a ruler. I don't understand the outstretched arm. Who is he reaching out to. What's the story. In my mind I see him sitting on a throne giving orders to his lieutenants and then they go strike that pose. Also...why is the knee up. He is in a tunic. I don't think that fits either. Besides superman, batman and wonderwoman all have their knee up already. Was it necessary for arguably the most powerful villain in the dcu. I know ss has alot of talent but I feel like they lack nerd knowledge. They need an in house comic guru. Someone who gives input on the essence and history of a character. Whatever happened to that Chris guy. I used to like his videos in the old days when he would describe the pieces and why they depicted pieces a certain way. Ok. Rant over. I'll go back to hopelessly looking at pics of him

Just checked and this is not on WL yet. If I miss out on a monthly coupon on this I will not be a happy camper since I just PO this. Please go on WL already. :lol

It's a Kirby pose who created the character.

Yup, the pose is definitely Kirby inspired. He always drew powerful characters with the outstretched hand. It's classic Kirby.

I really wish they did either the Killing Glove or Omega Beams for the exclusive. I'm not crazy about the switch-out head sculpt and think they could have made a more Kirby inspired version as the alternate.

How oftee do SS actually change things after previews??

They change things all the time, just not in a positive way. They did add lights to the Thanos comiquette a long time ago, but Sideshow has become a lot more corporate since then, and seem to care less about what customers want, and more about maximizing profits.

Lacking the wow villain effect. One look at Lobo and he gives the wow look at me. Darkseid somehow just look too plain for a big time villain IMO.

Because of the pose and he's too small and thin in my opinion. He needs to eat more. Maybe ss can revise it a bit?

He has a pretty plain costume to begin with. Lobo's has a very detailed costume.

Oh well... Let's see how he turns out.

Maybe a customizer can add more clay ion his belly and face and thicken him up to look like the Kirby and cartoon version. This reminds me of my favorite artists jim lee's version which I didn't like. Jim was perfect on everything except I didn't like his thin darksied and spidey. The rest was the best artwork Ive ever seen.

this will be worth a lot of $$$ in da future. few villains as bad as Darkseid
There won't be many of these out there. The price alone will keep many away. However, Darkseid is certainly an "A" list baddie. If SSC ever sells out, I can see peeps willing to spend some good coin to pick him up. There's not many villains in the DCU more powerful or evil than Darkseid.

I'm wondering now if the reason they're raising prices so steeply is to price people out of the market so the edition sizes are manageable and Quality Control becomes more of a focus. QC on 500 Statues is much easier than on 3000 of them. Rather than improve QC on a large batch, give them less work. Kind of makes sense in that way. It's really hard to have top notch quality control on a high end collectible when you're looking at thousands of pieces made to exacting standards.

Then again, smaller edition sizes doesn't necessarily mean better QC.
