I like the sculpt but the paint looks like the same era as the movie.

Yeah it looks like the same quality as the Gentle Giant statues that came out when the film did 21 years ago.

Bit more depth to the skin, at least.

No, I remember them saying they were now using some new material, which seems to be more translucent.

This looks rather nice. Sculpt is excellent, paint is VERY neat and tidy. They're not really known for their realistic skin textures, but i think overall this is look impressive.
