Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Sorry to see that, man. That's one way to ruin a toy line. :cuss:

Thanks, I'm, actually not really bothered though. I knew what I was getting into. I'll call my LCS and see if I can get a credit or something.

In case anybody's wondering, I opened this guy a few days after release, tested all the joints, no issues. I put him on a shelf, on his stand....no falls or anything. Just picked up tonight and the arm came off as though it was being held in place by the cape.

So weird...most of the DC figures I've got in the past are nothing if not sturdy.

So much for my "good" Batman.

That really sucks. I'm just posing mine in museum poses and leaving them that way. Hopefully this problem doesn't continue with the upcoming waves.

Sucks. Sorry to hear that man.

The cheap joints are just as I feared. Even collectors with "good ones" could be prone to breakage and deteriorating joints in the future.

I don't trust the plastic for these in the long run, especially after seeing what the breaks look like with that brittle plastic.

My money is on these going the way of McFarlane Robocop, Hicks, NECA T-1000, etc. Deteriorated joints. I had a Robocop that I never even opened, kept it mint in it's packaging. A few years later I looked at it and noticed the hip was just hanging there. It broke off just from old age. Hicks is currently rotting at a comic shop with his rifle arm floating in the bubble. NECA T-1000? I bought a bunch of him because I kept getting broken arms and crappy quality control (sort of like this).

(my first pic when I got them as a group, had more than this)

I thought my "good ones" were fine, they had no breakages at all. I left them on the shelf for years only to find last year that their arms were at their feet. Their elbow joints had disintegrated. I got over it and just threw them away.

Yup. I saw your post about that earlier in the thread and , at least in my case, you hit the nail on the head.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I suffered the same fate with my Catwoman...looked just like your Batman YoNoSe. I had all her joints moving and the next morning when they cooled down to room temp, her arm twisted right off.

I feel like we need a support group.:1-1:

I'm going on a collecting hiatus anyway, but honestly when I do get back into it I might just hunt down the Kenner figures and vehicles. This is a damn shame - could have given MOTUC a run for it's nostalgia title. But at least the Kenner figures hold up pretty well.

I agree. A support group would help.

But I kinda lied...first her knee snapped in 3 places...then her arm twisted off. :horror

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

This is why Japanese is always to go with collectibles. This was an exception for me cause it looks Japanese standard haha

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

The missus was kind enough to get me batman, Catwoman and two face. I've still not opened them though. I'll be giving them a warm bath when I do though. Hopefully that'll sort the stiffness out.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think a lot of this comes down to the quality of plastics being manufactured nowadays - they don't seem to hold up like they used to. I keep seeing these problems in higher-end toy lines that use Chinese manufacturing. (I'm looking at you, NECA.) I wonder if toys marketed directly towards kids are made of more durable material? Maybe they think that because collectors don't 'play' with their toys they can use lower-grade more cost-efficient plastics? I don't know. What I do know is that it's pretty sad when you can buy vintage Kenner BTAS figure off of eBay that hold up better than these brand new ones... :rolleyes2

That really is quite disturbing...

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm waiting for DC to release a reworked wave 1 with better quality plastic joints minus the crappy hip holes. They really need to make up for this junk they have put out in the first wave. Plus, people with proof of purchase of all of the defective figures should be given replacements from the new wave.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

As a retailer with these figures on my shops walls i am realy concerned about all the quality issues. I love this line and a i am a huge fan of the BAS but if this quality is not improved then this line will perish. So far it is only MOC collectors buying these as they will never open them.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I seem to have a different experience then many here, and I genuinely feel bad for a lot of you. Just got mine in the mail today, and he is PHENOMENAL!! I took a LONG time loosening the joints up. No heat or anything, just going very slowly. I just started collecting recently, and I don't have a whole lot yet, but after this Batman, this whole series has become must buy for me. This is one of my two favorites. I think anyone who doesn't get burned by bad QC on this one will be blown away.

ETA: After reading some of the posts again, I'll report back in a few days.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Got our shipping list for next week... And no Wave 2 figures are on there for 1/7/2015. :(

I am thinking we won't be seeing these for awhile still.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm usually really easy going with collectible releases, but that pisses me off a little. I just hope (but doubt) it means better QC. Was really looking forward to that nice splash of color that wave 2 has.

Maybe they're taking their time to address QC issues or maybe fix the peg holes? I'm fine with them taking longer if we end up with a better product.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I hope they take their time with them. Wave 2 has three of the most important classic BTAS characters. If they can get them out there without hip holes or breakages from shoddy plastic, I say take all the time you need.

I am almost positive they sent us a delay notice that they wouldn't ship until March months ago... Which is why that 1/7/2015 date on Diamond's site seemed so odd to me. I am kinda hopeful that it is indeed March so they have plenty of time to get these right.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I have Batman on the truck waiting to deliver today. I'm looking forward to it but hearing about all the fragile figures snapping left and right has me nervous. It kept me from going all in blindly. I'm hoping to focus more on TNBA (I know blasphemy) but those designs seem to be more fragile because of how stylized they actually are.
