Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think that depends on the episode World'sGreatestDetective, but I wish he was just tiny bit taller :/

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah, Robin looks too much like a little kid. Still looks like a nice figure though.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Hey Leroy, could you post the picture of Robin next to Catwoman please?

Yeah, perhaps...

The figure makes Robin look like he is 16 years old, compared to the Joker (from the same series. I'm not comparing to that Bats since it's not from TAS).

Which isn't bad, since D. Grayson was a teenager during the series (it's told in some episodes, like "Batgirl Returns" etc).

I'm completely fine with how he turned out.

Up to Batman's nose atleast.

I edited the image slightly and now Robin is up to Batman's nose ^^ (BTAS Bats is listed the same as TNBA so size-wise they should be the same)

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

That looks so much better. Perfect even.

Again, Robin wasn't a kid in the show. He was an adult man that attended Gotham University. He shouldn't look like a little kid. It's too late for changes though, it is what it is. Robin still looks to be a great figure. As long as he's not standing next to Batman or other characters it'll be fine as a standalone. I'm definitely getting an extra to put in the Batmobile.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Joker looks absolutely amazing and dead on.

His face turned out so much better. It's SO accurate to the show, I can almost hear him speak. lol

I think it's the best face sculpt TAS Joker has ever had, hands down.

Yeah, I like it too. Can't wait to see it in hand. The whole wave looks very good.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think the reasoning behind Robin being so small is that DCC stated they were using the original character line-up sheets to base the figures' heights from. You can see from the original sheet here that Robin is much shorter than Batman. Clearly the animators didn't stick with this in the episodes though, but that's what DCC have based him on. So while they didn't exactly get him wrong, I do wish they'd used the episodes for reference in this instance.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

But even then on that front they're not faithful.

If they're going by the original character model sheets and heights, then the Joker should have had his waist coat and coat tails. The Batman figure should have the blue highlights.

The lack of consistency this early in the line is what bugs me. Are they trying to be faithful to the model sheets and reference or the actual show? What happens if/when they get to Bruce Wayne? By their logic with Robin's height, they'll make him blue coated with a red tie even though he never looked like that and wore brown and yellow. Then with the Joker, they go with the revised look in the actual show. It's just a weird way of thinking.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Maybe the blue suit Wayne will be a variant or a repaint version as part of a box set, which is common for DCC.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Well, regardless of Robin's height, I think DCC is going by the actual show, which is what I wanted, because that's what I actually watch (not just me, but everyone, right?).

I've always wanted BTAS figures faithful to the TV show, which is what Kenner never ever gave us.
And I can personally say that I've so far loved what I've seen and I'm absolutely happy with how TAS figures have turned out as of now, even Catwoman with her peg holes.

I hope to own up to wave 4 + batmobile by the time Christmas come. :yess:

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

yup, they defo did base the figure on these. Even Robin's legs are as skinny as figure here. Oh well still great looking figure overall :)

I guess only they know for sure! And yeah, as BTAS fans it is a little frustrating knowing there are inconsistencies in this line, but maybe there really isn't any ryhme or reason to them. Maybe DCC just aren't as aware of the intricacies of certain aspects of BTAS as we are. I know for sure, having watched some YouTube videos from SDCC, that the DCC representatives there weren't as knowledgeable of the series and characters as us fans due to some of their answers to certain questions (like; Who's an obscure character you'd love to make? And they couldn't name one off the top of their head after clearly trying to thinking of one. We'd be able to reel a list of 10-15 characters off).

Sure, you could say well why don't they just stick to one point of reference and not use another aswell. But maybe they just don't know that they're doing wrong in doing that. Then again, maybe they don't think it's wrong and they're just all over the shop for reasons beyond our fathoming. I guess we'd have to ask them!

Whatever the case, I'm just glad we're getting a more faithful looking Robin as opposed to the Kenner version I had for years that was all kinds of wrong!

Not to mention Two-Face, the Riddler, the Penguin... All of which were also all kinds of wrong.

Can't forget either: those bad sculpted Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Phantasm. :slap

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

^ haha! Yeah, when you think about it a LOT of them were pretty wrong!

I'm very much looking forward to seeing DCC's version of Poison Ivy. I really, really hope they nail her headsculpt.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

In Kenner's defense, I'm pretty sure in 1991 this was their reference,

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I really hope they will base BTAS Poison Ivy on model sheet and "Pretty Poison" episode and not for "Eternal Youth" where Ivy looks very different.
