Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

that's so sad. the animated series wasn't even released in germany on DVD. I SO miss this show and all of the GERMAN actors. Bruce had such a great voice in german

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I did paint.
You see - there's part of the mask under his chin, and it's sculpted. I simply painted it black.

Didn't need to take his head off, as it was a very simple job.

This was a very difficult angle to shot. :rotfl

Hope it helps.

:hi5:Thanks WGD! I did notice that piece of the chin that had a seam through it and I wondered how it would look painted since I realized as much as the chin was exposed in the cartoon, he did have a piece of the cowl covered around the chin.

Now I know it won't be warped by painting it over.

I've been working on my Bats guys thanks to Zelu and Mchaley Art's tips, my highlights are getting there to satisfaction. This version of TAS Bats is becoming one of my favorite batmans to own as is with just the factory design, but the more I customize it, the more I enjoy screen accuracy coming out of it IMO.

Will post pics soon of my progress

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Happy to help, guyver!! :hi5:
Looking forward to seeing your custom.

In other news, I'm nervous to buy Harley online, as I won't be able to check her paint. :panic:
I don't have comic shops in my town, and JUST got back from NYC, where I bought Bats, Riddler, Penguin and the Batmobile in-hands (thank God for that).

Damn it, DCC and its delays - no one had any idea when Harley would be released!

She'll be released literally one week after I got back from NYC. :slap
Had we known her release date, I would have planned my trip to next week.

I do have a friend in NYC now, though, that could get her for me and check the paint. :lecture
But I'm not sure if he would have the patience I have to spend 20 minutes checking the paint of 5+ Harley figures. :(

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Animal Mother, I know you use DCBS to buy these figures. Have you received notification your BTAS Batman is/will be shipping?
Thanks.

Hey Phar,
Yep, mine shipped with the batmobile when that came out a few weeks ago. A little strange they haven't shipped yours yet, so I would get in touch with them to see what's up. I can tell you they can be unpredictable with shipping if you have other items in your order.

One time they kept holding stuff for me, letting it build up and build up until I had to tell them.to just ship and charge what they had so far, cause it already turned into a huge bill.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I have a nearly complete set of all of the BTAS/TNBA collection on those old VHS tapes. they're official tapes too not bootlegs. if anyone here still has a VCR and wants these old tapes send me a pm. I think I have a collection of about 21 tapes and each tape has up to 5 episodes IIRC. Mask of the Phantasm and sub-zero isn't included I'm afraid.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm a big fan of BTAS and have all the episodes on DVD along with the three released soundtracks. I was all in on these figures until I read about the brittle plastic and the breakages collectors were experiencing. That changed when I found the first Baman figure from TNA at Barnes and Noble. I love this guy! I have many of the original figures and vehicles from the 90's and have always wanted a more articulated version of the characters. These are just what I always wanted. I like this guy do much that I just ordered original bats and Robin from Amazon. I don't know if I'll get all the figures but I'll get the ones that I want the most.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I can't believe there are some that are worrying about picking up the series on dvd still. Amazon has all the sets at reasonable prices and you can still find the DVD sets in certain best buys, I've seen them there many times recently.

Although it would be fantastic if we can get them in blu Ray form, the DVDs are still available at decent prices.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I had the four volumes, let a buddy of mine borrow them for his shop, they went missing, so, I decided to buy the complete series. Wound up being a fake, sent it back, and a fellow freak sold me his legit set for the same price. It all works out in the end.:lol

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'd still like to see them on Blu-Ray, though. I get Timm's comments, but how many shows have had the same thing said about them? David Simon didn't want The Wire on Blu, because the show was meant to be 4:3, now, you can buy The Wire on Blu-Ray, at 16:9, with Simon's approval, I might add. I know animation vs. live television is apples and oranges, but the point I'm saying is that the people handling restorations are professionals, and I'm confident that, if WB wanted it enough, we could see it, but that's another question right there.

Personally, I like Timm's comments, because I think that, if they ever did decide they wanted to do an HD release, go to the man, himself, to oversee it. The other thing is that the '66 release has shown us that you can have an HD release without stretching it to 16:9.

HD would make a huge difference in IMO, as far as resolution, even now that I watch on Amazon Prime Instant Video for my Fire Tv you can see a lot of episodes could use a repolishing as you can tell the footage is worn. However if they do redigitize the reels, they might loose the darkness and legendary shadow effects that characterized this series :lecture

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I recently bought the first 2 dvd sets. Waiting for the 3rd. Gonna order the 4th off amazon soon.

Watching Vol 4 or the TNBA I realized how Two Face and Harley pretty much looked the same as the previous seasons but everybody else was completely revamp :dunno

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

They will NEVER - EVER - release BTAS/TNBA on Blu-ray.

For these two particular reasons:
1. restoration could end up damaging the original aspect of the series, as pointed out by guyver
2. the original reels were lost

And even if they wanted, I personally wouldn't like to risk having a demaged version of this legendary series.

Disney spent millions to convert The Lion King to Blu-ray and the result was a disgusting desaster full of errors. And horrible noticible errors.
I don't even watch my blu-ray because I can't even stand those errors. Still watch my 2004 DVD, 11 years later.

The BTAS DVDs are 100% perfect and are pure nostalgia.

Mask of the Phantasm could possibly be converted, as could Subzero.
But to risk having the same problems as The Lion King? Please, NO.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Alright guys I usually don't collect small figures I like them but more into the 1/6 and 1/4 scales ....but ever since I seen the Batmobile I thought about just buying it but canceled the pre order....I had bought my kid a ManBat months back, didn't really care for it at the time ....Now that I'm watching the show again I think I'm ready to buy most of the figures :)...I asked my kid if could have the ManBat...he said o.k , had to give him $10 lol...but is a good deal seen how much is going for ...anyways Already payed for the Batmobile and Bats ...waiting for the other releases since will do the Pile of loot from BBTS. At first I just wanted the Batmobile, but seen all you guy's pic changed my mind lol. Here's my first BAS
