Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

To sum up:
Talia - Goes along with hurting people, but expresses regret. Probably noble. Loves her father. Loves Batman
Catwoman - Doesn't hurt people, aside from the occasional mobster or terrorist. A noble thief. A philanthropist. Loves cats. Loves Batman.
Mr Freeze - Hurts mostly bad people but doesn't care if innocent bystanders get in his way, which they frequently do. Loves his wife. Hates Batman.
Clayface - Hurts mostly bad people but doesn't care if innocent bystanders get in his way, which they frequently do. Loves no one but himself. Hates Batman.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Humanizing the villains is something that show did so well, and with some characters, like Mr. Freeze and Clayface, it did even better and before the comics did. Those two, however, definitely aren't good. Their origins are tragic, we can sympathize with them, they're both victims, and Freeze isn't just trying to save himself, but he also wants to save his wife. However they both hurt people, and while their targets are mostly bad (very bad) people, they don't give a **** about innocent bystanders, and they both want to kill Batman, which neither Catwoman nor Talia wants to do.

I agree 100% on Freeze and Clayface.

And yes, the show did such an amazing job humanizing the villians and all characters.
We can sympathize with virtually every villian.
So many deep stories and backgrounds..

And it's what I tell everyone: no super hero (or hero) has villians like Batman's, with such deep background stories and origins.
Virtually no Batman villian is silly or useless, like so many other super heroes' villians.

I would probably add that Catwoman could perhaps hurt or kill someone who gets in her way. It's not on her plans, but IF happens, she wouldn't mind it. Am I wrong?

She cares for innocent people and the ones she likes/loves, yes, but if someone gets in her way or turns against her, she wouldn't mind eliminating. LOL
Same for Talia.

BTW, your avatar is the real MVP.

Agreed. I love Freeze, he's my absolute favorite, but because of his ruthless nature and willingness to kill literally anyone to further his mission, he's a piece of **** too aha. I always wondered how he could have gone through all that, yet have no conscience when it comes to inflicting the same or worse fates on other innocent people. WTF Victor?! Lol. Don't get me wrong though, he could have wasted Ferris Boyle's ***** ass and I wouldn't have thought a thing of it haha.

I love Mr. Freeze so much, too. But Two-Face/Harvey is my ultimate favorite villian, ever since I watched "Second Chance" for the very first time in the turn of the century. That episode is the one that made me fell in love with this show.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I repainted Harley as a commission for someone and I think she turned out even better! Which one do you guys prefer?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Sweet, definitely one on the left. It looks cleaner. The right one has sloppiness around the abdomen area and bleed on the collar.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Anyone know when will TNA Batman & TAS Catwoman with fixed peg holes be released? Still missing those two.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Agree with TWayne - the one on the left, Zelu.

But I think the shape of the mask you painted looks more like the shape of Harley's mask in the comics.

The BTAS one's mask has a different shape:

(this still is from "The Laughing Fish")

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Cheers guys! You are right World'sGreatestDetective but that is also inconstant between the episodes. I based my Harley on one of my favorite artworks of hers :)

But I will defo have another go at her when I get TNBA Harl :D

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Oh, I get it now! Looks a lot like that iconic artwork, especially the smile. :lecture
I did not see the edges of the mask on the first pics. The last pic helped.

Man, speaking of the TNBA Harley figure: can't wait to get it!
That body is seriously much better.

Can't wait to put the BTAS head on the TNBA body and make the perfect BTAS Harley Quinn. :drool

I know, right! TNBA Harley's body looks more like BTAS! I will defo be swapping it!

Ahhh so it was you who did those awesome repaints!! Man, these look awesome!!! To be honest I have to strain to see a difference in the two, but I actually kinda like the right better. It's a bit more expressive imo. Excellent job on both though, Zelu! Do you use some sort of magnifier when painting??

I was thinking about doing that also, but then TNBA Harley will have that tiny little body and look like a preteen next to Ivy. Ivy is wayyy too tall

Thanks phantasm and NO, no magnifier just tiny brushes and lot's of patience ;)

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

^ Wow! I thought for sure that you would use magnifiers. That truly is a talent you have Zelu!!

Zelu is seriously beyond talented. DCC should hire him as soon as possible.

If I lived in England, I would have already ordered some customs/repaints of my figures from him. :lecture

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

^ Agreed!!

And speaking of customs..... I've re-sized my Ivy! She looks so much better now :D

As you can see by the lines in the next picture, she's much smaller and in better size relation to Harley now. I adjusted her size by cutting some length from the bottom half of her legs (which looked way too long anyway). She still retains her boot swivels too :) I also shortened her neck ever so slightly.

And yeah, her right boot is the wrong way around, but mine was like that in package. I'm going to replace her with the 5-pack Ivy when that comes out I think and do the same mod to her then.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Oh man!! She looks SOOO much better, sfa!! How did you do it?? Does the boot pop off? I would LOVE to do this to my Ivy as well. Hated how tall the fig was since I got it. I wish the new Ivy came shorter

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yes, if you warm up her legs in hot water you can just pop the boots off :)

She does look so much better and I'm a lot happier with her height now. Those lower halves of her legs really are way too long.

Haha Thanks a lot buddy! It's funny cause I haven't done even one commission here in UK - the closes place was Germany. Most of the commissions are from US but I also had one from Australia and that Harley is going to Japan! :D

Awesome stuff SFA! I was going to do exactly the same but I'm waiting for TNBA Harley to see how tall will she be. I want Harloey and Ivy to be about the same size.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm ready for some new figures already DCC.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Same here whakojacko.

My Gotham needs it's Police Commissioner as well as a Demon's head to cause some trouble.
