IGN - 8.0/10

Dead Island probably won't win any game of the year awards. It's got visual bugs, the controls take a bit to feel normal, and the presentation in general isn't up to snuff. But the game gets a lot right. There is a huge world to explore, thousands of zombies to kill, and tons of side quests to take. Here on the other side of a 25-hour playthrough -- where I skipped a lot of side quests after Act 1 -- I'm anxious to get back into Dead Island, and despite the game's flaws, that's not something I say often.

^^^Good point. I'm waiting for this one to come out and drop in price before considering owning it. Might rent it if I can find it at Blockbuster, but I'm trying to hold out for the upcoming barrage of games.

The debut trailer blew me away, then the gameplay trailer :slap

I've Got little interest in this at the moment, with everything else this will be mine for £10 when the price drops to that.

According to IGN, the 360 version is definitely the superior version.

Business as usual.

.5 in the sound catagory is hardly "superior" a patch within a week and BAM! dead even :lecture

Link?

Because the review stated that the graphics AND the sound were noticeably better on the 360. I don't give a damn whether it was ".5" or better.

Better sound, better graphics, = superior version.

But if there truly IS a patch that is coming to fix those problems with the PS3 version, then that would be awesome.

So...again...link?

The big problem with the PS3 are the blurry textures worst framerate and tearing, tearing everywhere both version has the same popping texture problem, but according with the IGN review the PS3 has worst problems on this department :monkey4

The 360 version has better graphics in overall.. but dunno if the PS3 could be as good as the 360 via pacht..However, f you ask me I doubt it :lecture

Already have the game. I got an early copy five days before release and the review. I am enjoying it so far, the gore is horrific and brilliant but the graphics do stutter a bit and are rough. However its the gameplay that makes it awesome. Walking round the bungalows and hearing a growl but not being able to see the zombie is scary stuff. Ill post a more thorough review after a few more playthroughs along with some pics.

Console version??

The Fallout 3 comparisons seem pretty accurate from what I've read (both in regards to the good and the bad) so that actually has me more interested in this now. I can deal with imperfections along the way as long as the core gaming experience is good, and that ssounds like the case here, so I'll probably be grabbing a copy...though I have a few games that still need finishing, so I'm in no mad rush.

The Gametrailers review is up. 8.5...not too shabby. Everyone is saying the same thing for the most part. It's got some problems and real flaws, but the core game is good enough to over shadow them. I feel comfortable with buying it.

The similarities to Fallout 3 are quite significant. You can open bags and closets and pick up alot of random objects along the way. The perk/level system is also similair and very detailed. Even the combat feels like Fallout 3 (minus the VATS). Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I am. Havn't tried CO-OP yet though. Im gonna go single for most of the game I think

I like your avatar pic, btw. :lol

I will definitely need to pick this up sometime soon, 49.99 is pretty decent for a game though!
