I thought you made this thread to ask me a question.
Sorry to dissapoint. :peace

That was one of the best trailers I've seen in a while. Different from the norm. It looks great imo , I'm a fan of M.Night's work. Sure he had a few crap movies but I loved Signs , Unbreakable and the Sixth Sense.
I agree, the trailer was great and instantly made me want to see this.

Sure, he's made a few bad films, but you can't take away what he's accomplished with his good ones.

I don't like the current Shyamalan and I didn't like Quarantine, so this movie is in the 'pensively pessimistic' category for me.

Trailer was slickly made, though.
Say what you want about Shyamalan, but Quarantine was awesome!

...I don't think it's much of an exaggeration to compare him to the equally (but for different reasons) awful Boll.
Well, M. Night has made a least a handful of 'good' films, something that can't be said about Boll.

You sure you understand what 'hyperbole' means? There is no exaggeration in either of the statements you quoted - in my opinion, he is one of the worst directors of the last ten years, no exaggeration. And I don't think it's much of an exaggeration to compare him to the equally (but for different reasons) awful Boll.

So it's not an exaggeration to say that someone is one of the worst of the entire decade? Of all the film directors that exist, you're completely confident that he is on a short list of 10 as one of the worst? To say that he's as bad as Uwe Boll is not an exaggeration? When comparing their catalog that's not a stretch?

edit: Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it can't be your opinion that he's a horrible director. I just find it hard to believe anyone would say he's one of the worst, and comparable to Uwe Boll. That to me is beyond exaggeration. I could find 100 directors working today worse than M. Night Dingdong. Just flip on the Syfy channel or Lifetime Movie Network and you'll find more than 10.

Looks good, but that means nothing. I have lost all faith in Shalamalamadingdongs movies. All his trailers look great, unfortunately 90% of his films blow.

Please see The Village. I was super psyched to see that movie based on seeing the trailer. After walking out of the theater from seeing it I felt like someone rubbed a dirty diaper in my eyes.

:lol:lol I thought I was the only one that referred to him as Shalamalamadingdong.

And why is he so ostentatious that he has to include some of his old, crappy student (or childhood) films on some of his DVD releases? This guy is a total ******.

I thought that was funny too. He seems to be so involved about himself that he has to create his own "icon" status by doing this.

His three supernatural thrillers, The Sixth Sense (1999), Unbreakable (2000), and Signs (2002), grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide.

Hate him all you want, his films make decent money. So, they'll keep making more. :lol

Aside from Sixth Sense I do think most everything else has been kinda lame. Creative ideas but most of his films leave you empty ........... like after you eat Taco Bell.

That actually looks interesting; surprised by the source

Just looked....He wrote the STORY, not the SCREENPLAY and he isn't directing

Screenplay by Brian Nelson, same guy who did 30 Days of Night
Co-Directed by the guys who did Quarantine.....this is good news

Shamwow's problem was, after the Sixth Sense he became a one trick pony. EVERY movie he did after that had a twist/surprise ending. And it got old.. real fast.

I have absolutely no faith in anything that M. Night is attached to anymore. He had two spectacular movies a decade ago, and one good movie 8 years ago. Lets Recap:

1999: Sixth Sense (incredible)
2000: Unbreakable (incredible)
2002: Signs (good)
2004: The Village (fair to poor)
2006: Lady in the Water (eyes and ears were bleeding by the end)
2008: The Happening (had a rabid dog gnaw on my testicles for 91 min to dull the pain)
2010: The last Air Bender (waiting for video because they don't allow dogs into the theater)

Lets face it. This guy is still riding the success from 2 movies an entire decade in the past!

Exactly. And once you expect the twist it usually isnt hard to figure out. For example...in "The Happening" I turned to my wife after the first 3 minutes of the movie and said "If the plants are attacking Im gonna be pissed"....and well we all know how that turned out.

Makes me wonder, had The Sixth Sense been 4th or 5th in the line up, instead of the first...would it still have been as great a movie? If we completely expected a twist ending I have a feeling a lot of people would have figured it out right away.

You are probably right but I also feel it was the best twist.

yes. the twist ending was just a bonus. the acting by bruce willis, haley joel osment, and toni collette was far beyond superb. :lecture

this looks good, but it kind of reminds me of phone booth in the fact that, how can a movie possibly be good if the entire movie takes place in a phone booth, or in this case, an elevator? The trailer looks interesting for sure though...........
