Dex will have to dump LaGuerta's body because of the bullet.

Maybe he pulls the bullet out, then shoots laguerta's body twice with the other gun: one to go through the knife wound he made and the other to go through deb's wound she made with her gun.

Well, having successfully stayed out of the forums this season to formulate my own opinions. . . it didn't really change. I feel like the writers leave things open like they're going to come back to it, but they never do so it just ends up being this plot hole.

Like, it seemed obvious that Deb dosed herself to frame Hannah. As she said if she was really trying to kill Deb, she wouldn't have screwed up. Then nothing really ever came of it, and then tonight, Hannah didn't really admit she did it, but she didn't deny it either.

Having Doakes back tonight really made it seem like the writers made a mistake killing him off so early in the series.

And having Louis go absolutely nowhere, and he ends up just being a dude giving Dex a hard time. . . WTF?!?!?

Having said all that, I will still be interested in how they wrap all of this up

I was convinced Deb had dosed herself as well, but Hannah did admit to doing it in this episode.

Hannah to Dex: "Why am I here?"
Dex: "You poisoned Debra!"
Hannah: "Because she was trying to keep us apart!"

I'm sad that Deb killed LaGuerta, how's she going to cope with doing that now? Knowing about Dex killing other murderers was one thing, but helping cover up a cops death, one where she actually pulled the trigger is a whole other thing.

Craziest ending since Rita's death! Wow. I don't really buy Deb's metamorphosis here or thoughout the season. It's fitting that the single biggest leap of credibility her character took at the beginning was what ultimately snared them both. Kind of highlights how absolutely gobsmacked stupid it was of her to jaunt out and grab a couple gallons of gasoline to help cover up for her newly discovered homicidal brother. Too much all at once and none of it made sense for her.

Now that she's the walrus to Dexter's carpenter they can spend the next season as a perfectly incestuous Thelma and Louise as they drive this mother****er off a cliff. Hannah could be first on the menu (surprised she made it out of that one alive).

Also, does this mean Batista becomes the pursuer next season? Now that would be great! He's the only guy I couldn't root against. It would make sense if he gets the final word. At least I hope.

When all is said and done, they finally broke out of the formula and really made some interesting moves. It's too bad Deb's character was written out of all comprehension in order to do it, but that's that. I'll definitely be tuning in next year.

When it comes out on DVD, Showtime makes Laguerta shoot first.

Well, I suppose it's better than a CGI version of Doakes with a Jar-Jar voice. Surpriza Yooza Mother****er!

The 2 things that totally swerved me the most last night was....

#1 -Hannah made it through this season alive. I still don't like the idea that she actually poisoned Debra, I think it probably could've worked if they scripted it better. Her escape was a pretty big stretch though.

#2 -I actually expected Dexter to kiss Debra as the New Years countdown was happening. I thought for sure they were gonna "go there".

All things considered, it was a good episode. In the post show interview with Scott Buck, he said the part where Debra runs up to Laguerta crying was unscripted and Carpenter just threw that in. It was probably the most emotional part of the episode (the end with Dexter & Debra walking and the fireworks was probably my personal favorite, that was a great scene!)


This will be a tough one to move forward with as there's alot of evidence to been done away with. The warrants for cell phone records, the gas staion recording, the bodies and Debra's bullet being in Laguerta....

Fantastic episode and what an ending! but I didn't like the idea Hannah actually did the poisoning, it really looked like it was Deb setting her up. I liked how Dex turned things around and made it look like he was being framed( loved that elevator scene between the two) I likes seeing Eric back on the show, but those flashbacks seemed a little out of place, granted I liked seeing how Dex first got Doakes suspicious of him but I think in tradition of the show a ghost like harry and Brian would have been better.
I liked the ending, I predicted earlier in the season that deb would kill someone to save Dexter, I was thinking maybe Issac and that she would have walked in on Dexter killing Maria in finale, but that would have been too reminiscent of the end of last season, but all in all I liked how it ended but there is a **** load of cleaning up these two need to do next season, I hope like many of you guys do that Batista will be the one to take down Dexter.

This was a great season and I enjoyed the ending as much as season five's ending with Rita. I'm so glad Laguerta was Xed out. I was so sick of her sh... But I am still shocked that Debra took her out.

That sounds to me like Debra had indeed poisoned herself to make it look like Hannah was behind it. It appears to me that Hannah didn't want Dex to know that it was actually his sister who poison herself. She never really said "I did it" she just said "She was trying to keep us apart". And she did say in a previous episode to Dexter that when she poisons people she doesn't make mistakes, meaning Debra should've died if she really had poisoned her.

Well that's how I understood it. lol

I think they might "go there" in the next season… I just don't believe they will drop the whole "Debra is in love with Dexter" thing.

Nice. I like to read stuff like that. It was an emotional scene. My mouth hit the floor.

Yeah, I really enjoyed this season and I'm already impatient for the next one. What's going to happen with Hannah? I'm amazed she made it to the next season.

I wish Deb had just stayed at the party, was nice to see Laguerta finally get hers, but wtf?

All Hannah was implying was that Deb knows what Dexter is and is a hypocrite. That's why she has trouble sleeping.
She admitted poisoning deb to Dexter himself within the first 5 minutes of the episode.

GPS. Once you use it in a story, you can't un-use it.

LaGuerta had a pending subpoena for the GPS logs from Dex and Debs cell phone providers. Is that not going to be a red flag later?

If Deb can call Miami PD switchboard and get a GPS on LaGuetra don't you think someone will go back to that info in the next few days?

Angel's retirement is going to be pretty short lived seeing there was still some level of care between him and Maria. If anyone is going to take down Dexter it should be Batista. I expect his rose colored lenses to be lifted soon.

Can Masuka please do something that makes him a respectable character again?

It would've been better had Debra done it herself. I do wonder why Hannah didn't kill Debra the way she had done her other victims. You know, using her own stuff than Deb's prescription meds.

The Doakes flashbacks were depressing, because I knew that in only a few seconds, Doakes was going to go away again.

His flashbacks were great, though, because they encapsulated everything about Doakes. He was suspicious and angry, of course, but even had that brief flash of humanity that popped up from time to time with Doakes. His, "It's not you, it's Laguerta", had a nice similarity to his "you owe me a new Michelin, you mother****er" scene.

Which, of course, almost immediately went back to Doakes accusing Dexter of being a psycho.

Those scenes made me laugh and not in a good way. It reminded me of the last episode of Star Trek TNG when the cast all played scenes based 7 years prior. Doakes was the only actor who could really pass as his younger self.

I had hoped they would instead use Doakes in some flashbacks with Maria based on when he had been suspended and started using his old connections.

At the very least I thought Maria would pull out some ace in the hole card that Doakes had left her something.

As it was the Doakes flashback didn't really impact the rest of the episode. They could've done those flashbacks during any story.

His acting brought back more of that innocent goofiness he had then, and while he and Deb were clearly older, I didn't think it looked bad.

Of course, I might just have incredibly low expectations, and was just glad they didn't show "teenage" Dexter in a wig.

It was a mistake getting rid of Doakes so early in the series. They never expected or designed this show to run eight years.
