I'm a huge Zombie movie fan but the movie absolutely SUCKED!!! Romero may be the King of Zombie flicks but this one and Land both were huge disappointments. I would never watch this again

Diary was just okay, pretty disappointing.

However, for those of you knocking the acting, have you seen any of the other Romero zombie movies? The acting is awful in every single one. LAND might be the exception because he had some money to hire name actors, but the acting in DAWN, DAY and DIARY is all abyssmal. That does not detract from my love for these films though.

Dawn was really cool i thought, but Diary was awful, havent seen Day yet. I like the whole mall scenario and the actors, like Vingh Rhames. I would have prefered to see a sequel to that.

You're aware that the Dawn of the Dead film with Ving Rhames is actually a remake of the Romero Film Right?
Romero did:
Night of the living Dead (1968)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Day of the Dead (1985)
Land of the Dead (2005)
Diary of the Dead (2008)

The remakes were:
Night of the Living Dead (1990) Directed by Tom Savini
Dawn of the Dead (2004) Directed by Zack Snyder
Day of the Dead (2008)

That Day of the Dead remake also stars Ving Rhames but as a completely different character so it's a quasi follow up to the Dawn remake but I've heard bad things about the Day remake.
There's also the unauthorized Night of the Living Dead 3-D (2006) remake. But I've heard it's best to avoid this one.

Blake, I'd agree about the originals having poor acting. It's understandable and forgiven on Night since it was so low budget and classic. Still the others aren't nearly as bad as Diary, it's the worst of all of them imo. It might have not been such an issue if the movie wasn't entirely shot from the character's point of view.

This movie would have been better without the 1st person camera gimmick. A straight filmed movie telling of alternate events paralleling the original movies would have been a real winner. As is it was only mediocre.

I actually disagree about the acting issue here. Were the actors in Romero's earlier movies Olivier and Pacino? No, but they were fine for what they were. Did anyone really suck in Night or Dawn? I don't think so. They did fine jobs, and the over-acting was often supposed to represent responses to the unbelievalbe level of stress that a zombie outbreak might create. The easiest target could probably be levied toward Captain Rhodes in "Day," but I actually like his performance, even if it is over the top, and again, think it is somewhat believable given the "situation" he was in.

In Diary, those guys didn't even seem like they were trying. But then, the overall crappiness of that movie colors everything else, so I am not completely objective.

Zombie movie's love em or hate em, i love em :D

Oh in the UK we had a show called Dead Set, based in the Big Brother house. It was only about 6 episodes long, but it had the real ex housemates and the real presenter eaten and turned into zombies. It was well written and acted and was a full on gore fest. I loved it, especially as i hate Big Brother.

Maybe it is because I didn't go into this movie thinking it was going to be good that I don't think it was that bad. There were elements in the movie that I thought were creative.
1. Guilt for killing zombies
2. How the army may not be on your side
3. using Youtube to spread survival tips around the globe
