Was counting on the play by play from Josh and crew here but a new record was set for selling out today, 90 minutes. This bodes poorly for SDCC I think, especially the SD part once the contract runs out.

Josh, what's the secret? Did you buy last year or get in on the insane lottery this morning?

OK no specifics. I'm trolling the net for info. I plan to be back in 2013 and am hoping it isn't like a Mondo drop for posters (sell out in seconds).

Nah, if you get in line and make sure you cover all your bases you should be good.

Keep in mind registration will be even harder next year because they are not doing any onsite pre-sales this year. There will be thousands of more people trying to get tickets online next year.:panic:

there will be more opportunities... cancellations and such... last year many tickets were released a few months before the event.

I got the ticket to go to sdcc this year. I am so excited, this will be my first comic con ever. I will go straight to Sideshow booth :)

Congrats! Once things start to pop up on the comic-con site then it's time to start planning. In other words have a plan going into the show otherwise it will be too much to figure out on the fly.

Thanks Josh, any recommendation on good hotel to stay near the convention (walking distance)?

The Manchester Grand Hyatt, Omni, and the Mariott are all within real close walking distance. There are others that ate as well but I'd have to see the list to tell ya. :lol

SDCC will blow chunks this year because I am going to miss it.

No Darth Cruel = No true badass fun

I got lucky with snagging a 4-day with Preview . . .when leading into it I thought they had sold out from the linegoers this past Con. And all within 45 mins.

I had set my expectations low, initially to get just a 4-day pass. Let's just say my expectations were exceeded. Can't wait for July . . .

does the sdcc tickets get soldout fast? I want to go but have no idea what my schedule looks like in june/july.

is it possible to buy the tickets a week or two before the show starts?

It's possible if you already signed up for a comic-con id. If not then is say you're out of luck unless you meet someone there and buy te pass after they pick it up.

I have to think that the black market will only increase with this sort of activity. Both years I have gone I went for Thursday only and was done by 2 pm both days. I have family in town so its not a huge deal for me to go to this event and I don't get into the movie previews, only the dealer room for me. Anyway, both times i thought I should sell this pass to someone waiting WAY in the back of the line. I didn't. But for someone like me it would be worth it to have an arrangement with someone from here (maybe) at a specific date and time. They go grab lunch, I take their pass, pay them 20 bucks and go check out the sales room for a few hours. With the unmet demand this is bound to happen.
