I used to love this show. I haven't thought about it for years but for some reason it just popped back into my mind this morning.

I don't remember that one, and don't recall ever even hearing about it before now, but it sure seems like a show I would've watched.

I actually remember seeing advertisements for this show on TV. But I was a senior in high school and was concentrating too much on partying to watch any TV so I never saw it.

Yes! I loved it, I actually learned about history and didn't realise it! :lol

Wasn't the main character replaced by another actor after he killed himself?

His name was Jon-Erik Hexum and he had moved on to another (Cover Up) show before he shot himself.

Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:

On October 12, 1984, the cast and crew of Cover Up were filming the seventh episode of the series, "Golden Opportunity," on Stage 17 of the 20th Century Fox lot. One of the scenes filmed that day called for Hexum's character to load blanks into a .44 Magnum handgun. When the scene did not play as the director wanted it to play in the master shot, there was a delay in filming. Hexum became restless and impatient during the delay and began playing around to lighten the mood. Apparently, he had unloaded all but one (blank) round, spun it, and in what would appear to be a game of Russian roulette, at 5:15 p.m., he put the revolver to his right temple and pulled the trigger.[6]

They replaced him on Cover Up and said that he had been killed on a mission. I used to watch both shows and I remember all the media this got at the time. The Cover Up episode where they deal with his replacement was very moving. He had a partner on the show that was part of his cover story. He played a secret agent posing as a model, and his partner was a female photographer. All through the episode she kept complaining about the new guy and kept asking where Hexum's character was--they had become very close through the course of the show. At the end of the episode, they finally tell her he was killed on assignment, at which point she starts crying as the camera pulls back. Very sad.

imdb credits him in all 20 episodes so I don't think he was re-cast.

I was mistaken, he was in all episodes....maybe I was thinking of Coy and Vance from Dukes of Hazzard? :slap

Or you could have it mixed up with the other show he was in.

I remember the accident with the gun very clearly, and I associated it with the cancellation (but apparently the show was already over). I had been anticipating more episodes when my mom broke the news to me that it wasn't coming back. She told me he had been working on a different show and then relayed the details of the accident. I was pretty upset.

Thanks a lot pix.

I don't remember it at all. I doubt I would've watched it.

Did it have Mormons in it?
