What are the differences between the T-700, T-800 and T.R.I.P. Endoskeletons?

Initially, I thought there would be a clear-cut difference between the T-700 and T-800 based on this image:

However, T-700 toys from both Hot Toys and Playmates look much more like the T-800 than they do the T-700 pictured above.

Is the T-700 still subtantially larger than the T-800? Is the distinction primarily about the type of covering the endo has, or what? Is there a difference in the toolings of the two endos; standing side-by-side how different would they look?

Furthermore, the Playmates T.R.I.P. and T-700 are the same molds with different decos; I had assumed that the T.R.I.P. would be pretty idenitcal to the T-800. Is Playmates just being lazy here or are the T.R.I.P. and T-700 actually the same tolling, again with differences in covering?

I am confused....

i think the 700 is a less advanced model of the 800. ie, poor metal work and err less advanced computer chip thingy :lol :dunno im sure the t-rip is the 800 aswell but i may be wrong. im sure it will all be explained in the film.

Like any product that grows and advances you have prototypes and the obsolete designs ect. The T-800 was, and is, Skynets biggest advance in tech! T-600 were fighting for years and the T-700 are new and improved for Terminator: Salvation. They are more compact, have better vision modes, better shock absorbing pistons and better logic computers! The T-700 looks so similar because it is only a model "Younger" than the T-800. The T-800 has a similar endo because the endo worked well under a fake skin. All that changed was: colour, real skin!, better logic interface and increased bullet resistance for time travel to simpler times. I hope this has helped.

Regards: Skynet Customs...

From what I make of it, Skynet is using T-1s and T-600s as well as the giant Harvesters and other crude models to round up living people. Those people will be used for the 800 project to make a bunch of robots like Marcus.

The 700s all move as a unit and are more attack models, designed to hunt and kill the resistance.

While all this is going on, Skynet developed the T-RIP, a more advanced agile version of the 700, Marcus is the first person used for this program as a RIP (Resistance Infiltrator Prototype). There is only one T-RIP.

Meanwhile the 800 series which will be the regular production model of the T-RIP are ready to start rolling off the line, when they are discovered by the resistance.

My guess is when they figure out Marcus's deal they realise they need to prevent thousands of similar 800 series robots from being activated but actually thinking there human. The result of this to the resistance would be a ton of people who think there human, that could be activated at the right times to slaughter unsuspecting human dwellings.

To answer the Hot Toys/Playmates question, it seems they simply got the designs wrong. I mean Playmates even spelled John Connors name wrong on the package so don't take them to heart.

Does anyone here know if there are like T-500, T-400 and so forth. I know someone posted a sight a while back that explained all the Termies, but i was just curious how many new Terminators we will see in T:S

So far, these are what we know:

Not to mention the various Hunter Killers: Hydro/Moto/Aerial/ and Tank models.

Then there are also the recon hunter-seekers and mini-hunter killers:

That's all I can think of atm.

I think all these models are getting to be a bit ridiculous.
That's just my opinion though.

OK, let's ask my original question like this: if you stood a T-700 endo and a T-800 endo next to each other, would they appear diifferently, and how?

All of us have answered in different ways but have come up with the same answer! The T-700 is a less advanced T-800 so there are slight differences but all noticeable. The main one being size! the T-700 is slightly bigger and chunky. The metal finish, T-700= Scrap battle worn. T-800=Brand new shinny.

Hope that has answered your question.

So the Hot Toys T-700 appears to be on-model?

To clarify, I'm aware of what the theoretical differences between the models should be, what I've been wondering about is whether those theoretical differences will translate into the actual practical and CGI models seen in T-4.

(Also, from a retroactive continuity angle, does this mean that the endos in the "future war" segments of the previous three films are T-700s, not T-800s?)

No they are T-800's. Reasons: 1, the future war is always 2029, T-700 are 2018 and 2, they are shiny and have T-800 weaponry.

The Hot Toys T700 looks just like the T800.It looks nothing like the picture at the beginning of this thread.Which version is correct?

From what I've read on the packaging of the new Playmates toys, the T-700's are the expendable and plentiful field soldiers of Skynet. The T-R.I.P (prototype of the T-800) is identical in design but has a more advanced CPU, being meant for infiltration rather than pure combat.

From what I gather, Marcus is a T-R.I.P, and not a completely new Terminator design. I could be wrong, though.

As I've said before, every Terminator movie (and series) has had a "time traveler". Someone or something sent back in order to assist the Connors.

Marcus seems more advanced than even the T-800, so it's safe to assume that this time it's him. I think that's the main reason why his model number isn't known yet. (It would give away the plot)

I have to say, the Marcus Endo seems somewhat similar to the T-X in design, with the sleeker body and more wires internally within the body.
