Display Cabinet

I have been looking around on different boards to figure out what might fit all my new Sideshow Star Wars figures PF and 12". I have been looking at Ikea at the Docent but I heard from someone on another board that the Vader and Obi will not fit but it seems that they fit in the Detolf. I am hopping to get a wider case so I can fit more in one case. Has anyone tried Vader or Obi in the Docent or have any other good suggestions? I know that General Grievious won't fit and have not found any kind of enclosed cabinet thats not 2 grand.

There is the billy cabinet as well. Standard I do not believe it comes with doors but there are doors that you can get for it. One down side to the billy is that the doors contain a lot of wood, or synthetic board whatever it is and it obstructs the view a little. All in all it is a nice case and has a decent price tag assuming the statues fit.

I have a Billy with doors for my SW stuff, but unfortunately Greivous won't fit. In fact a lot of the new SSC stuff won't fit on standard Ikea shelves which are only 10" wide. You'll need to find something besides a bookcase for the bigger stuff.

That said - I'm very happy with the Billy which has Vader, Ben, Leia, Luke Han, all my MR .45 sabers and Code 3 ships in it.

I've got a Billy with Doors for my old Hasbro Stuff - I need to get 4 Billy's with doors for all the sideshow stuff. Needless to say the sideshow stuff is going in a different room to the Hasbro stuff. I think most of the Hasbro stuff is pretty irredeemable - but maybe the ANH Obi-Wan can be converted to a decent figure.

Ikea's new catalog has new Billy doors that seem to allow more visibility, but they are edged in aluminum: morebo door for Billy. I haven't seen them in person yet.

You do have to remove two of the four shelves, for the PF's - but for the price they work fine for now.

How's the stability of the Detolf with those PF's in there? I have two of them and I really like them but I don't know if I'm brave enough to put one of those PF's on those thin glass shelves. I thought the specs for the Detolf say that each shelf should only have 11 pounds on it.

I think it is 13, but I am not totally sure about it. They are temporary for me, I am still looking for something a bit more classy for the SW PFs.

They are not quite straight ahead, but then that isn't a problem because the poses aren't either. The base being the shape it is, it actually works fine.

This case looks great. I have one detolf and need another one. This case is more expensive but it looks to be worth it. I am not sure about the specs yet but it felt like the shelves were a lot more sterdy then the detolf. This case will not help with Grievous but thought I would post it as there really are not to many of these types of cases that have a decent price tag.

I was talking to my uncle and he thinks I can get glass doors cut for it and might cost $300 - $400. That would give me a glass case that fits Grievious for about $500. I will update once I find out about the doors. Worse case I have shelving that fits him and many more items.

IKEA SUGGESSTION...RE BILLYS

WHAT ABOUT TAKING THE BACKING OFF 1 BILLY AND PUTTING IT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER BILLY...THEREFORE DOUBLING THE DEPTH...TOO CHEESY LOOKING? THEN WE COULD FIT THE VADER/OBI WAN FRONT WAYS AND FIT GRIEVOUS...ALSO, I HATE HOW THE 2 GLASS DOORS HAVE THE WOOD STRIP DOWN THE MIDDLE, BLOCKS ALL THE STATUES STANDING IN THE MIDDLE...I ESPECIALLY HATE HOW GRIEVOUS CANT FIT AND IS KICKING IT SOLO OUT OF THE SHELF! HELP!!!!!

The IKEA store being built in the Round Rock (Austin) TX area wasn't supposed to open until spring of 2007 according to the IKEA web site, but current radio ads for hiring employees mention it will open this Fall!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! :chew

Man, it totally sucks not living by an Ikea... there stuff is so affordable, but forget about shipping! $250 to ship a $60 case... they were going to open one in Detroit, but then I had to go and move Oh, well... maybe oneday I will have fancy cases for my collectibles.

This case is now 40% off original price = $120. Very good price for a very nice case. The only thing is there's no locking mechanism on the door.
