I'm not familiar with Boom. Are they the sort I can do my usual and wait until it's in a tpb/hardcover?

I'm not familiar with Boom either. I'm going to be buying the individual issues. If they do a nice HC, I'll probably pick that up too.

I'm looking forward to the adaptation, and it seems they're staying very VERY close to the book, but some of the text seems redundant, doesn't it?

Just judging by the preview pages Batty posted, there are speech bubbles (or rectangles if you like) explaining what the characters are doing. Isn't that what the art and character dialogue is for?

If Iran said something and the art clearly shows her saying something (and aided by her dialogue bubble too), do we really need another bubble telling us "Iran said" or "Her voice held a bitter sharpness"?

The art is the stage direction, the character dialogue is the acting, anything else seems redundant and kills the nuance.

The first 5 pages:

I did that with the BSG comics. :lol

On another note, anyone need a set of the BSG comics? :lol

Yah, +1 on all of that. All those little 'Iran said' bubbles just take me out of it. Not sure on some of the art, either. That shot of San Francisco looked too modern, too well kept up for me. Most of the people have left the Earth, and I would prefer an abandoned, falling apart vibe. More like a Omega Man (movie) visual look.

So how was this? The trade finally came out and the lack of buzz once it started coming out have cautioned me against picking it up.
