Do you buy HT just to resell?

I don't think anyone should really ever be forced to sale below retail frankly, particularly on here. We all know the retail and then what is marked up on Ebay, so retail is fine in my mind. Now if it's like Cap PF and 2000k on Ebay, I really wouldn't expect it to be 2k on here, maybe 1500.

THIS.

if you're going to resell, and you want MAX money, take it to ebay.

The boards are a community, and as such, i usually expect to see fairer prices on things in the for sale sections.
when I open a sale thread, and i see egay prices, i immediately close the thread. I'm not saying i'd expect to see everyone selling @ retail or below. that's ludicris.

but a nice, midrange seems more appropriate.
TBQH, If I were to ever sell something, and I was only selling it because i no longer wanted it, not because I needed the cash, I'd take a look at ebay, and original retail, and probably put it up on the boards fora nice price somewhere between the two.

Rather it go to a fellow freak with a hole in their collection.

For instance, and I can't recall the seller, but the other week there was a Prime maquette exclusive on here listed for 3-4K!! lol Ridiculous.

Ive sold about 30 1/6 figs maybe more and quite a few of them were HT's. I only sell to make room and help fund more figs when i have too many on pre-order. Most of the time i make a loss or occasionally break even.

What kind of price would you guys expect to see for a Batpod here at SSF?...just wondering...nothing to do with my previous post..:monkey3

haha, not sure what the going rate is. What I have also noticed is the ebay prices on here because the seller wants to avoid the EBAY final value fees and Paypal fees, so not only are some selling at ebay fees on here, they are actually making MORE as they don't pay Ebay and Paypal fees.

ok, the batpod's original retail was around 300$.

The Ebay price seems to be between 800 and 1000, with the low end selling around 750-790, and very very few breaking 800

so, IF i had one, and I was going to sell it, i'd ask around 550 + shipping, and probably be willing to bargain down to 530 shipped.

Not 1,890. lol Not 1,395. lol Maybe 710 is reasonable...I don't know. All three of those were Ebay prices with 0 bids.

Fully insured, trackeable shipping out of Ireland to the US is up to $150 for me. So if I charged 550 for the piece it'd be 700 shipped....then the paypal fees..who pays them...hmm. Some people think its unfair of sellers to put that on buyers...yet most seem to expect buyers to pay them.

Ah, but international shipping is a COMPLETELY different story.

My quotes were ONLY for Continental US. As i am a Continental US resident.

in your case, I'd say 750-770 ( depending on paypal fees) , instead of 530 for international buyers, and you're still selling at a fair price.

netting you effectively 600.

TL;DR

Buyers need to simply accept that buying internationally simply costs more due to shipping, and deal with it. I did a long time ago.

Hell, I bought an 80$ figure from norway a while back, and the international shipping with insurance was 100$.

Does it suck?

Yes. but them's the breaks when doing international business.

This post was a huge relief to read. I myself had a figure of 750 including shipping and also accounting for paypal fees (I would instruct the buyer to leave them to me as I've already priced them in)

I've never been successful selling anything here. I appreciate wanting prices lower than ebay. Totally understandable- buy from the cheapest source. But I think people here want prices below reasonable market value. Some super, mega discount. In my mind the benefit of selling outside of ebay is that the buyer pays less and the seller keeps more of his/her money. So the two parties are basically splitting the ebay cost. But just like buyers go to the cheapest place, sellers go where they can maximize the sale price. Often, that is not here.

I agree. People want everything for nothing here sometimes. I don't mind people asking to lower a price (I've lowered plenty and by a lot), but it gets on the ridiculous side at times, and some people even have attitudes about it :lol. I've sold a lot of stuff on here, usually for about retail and even less, except for the odd item. I break pretty even usually.

I collect HT knowing I can probably at the least get back what I paid for it. I just sold my dx02 bats for $500 on eBay and thought I had paid all of the fees through eBay, and just today got slapped with a $47 invoice, well I'm probably not going to sell anything on there again...

I don't have any intention of selling but use the idea to convince others that its all worth it.....

This is why I dont go crazy and buy by branding. I will only buy figures from movies/games that I really like and that look really good. And this is why my collection is damn small compared to others on the forum.

Its also because of a lack in available funds

I can't afford to buy any extra figs just to hold onto them and resell later. I can't even afford to buy all the HT figures I want when they come out:monkey2. So I have to buy only the stuff that I really, really want and so those end up being keepers. Like my original Robocop, ED-209, Power-Loader and Marines. I could barely afford those when they came out so they really are keepers:). The only HT fig that I bought and ended up selling was when I got both the Ancient Predator Elder and the Japanese Exclusive Predator Elder. I only ended up taking one of them out of the package to display since they were so similar and my space was very limited.

Being unemployed and still wanting figs I just make the hard choice between selling a fig I like or getting one I really want. I usually offer good deals, just because I'm not a retailer and I know a lot of guys on here don't have a lot of cash. Besides, making the connections and establishing friends by helping a guy out here and there can go a long way for the future.
I agree that some folks I've dealt with get kind of annoying when you're offering a fig at a sweet price and then they want it cheaper or even for free international shipping. International shipping runs me at least 50 bucks most times. That really cuts into the budget when you're selling a fig for like 150 bucks. Then when you tell them no they come back all snarky like they were doing you a favor.
