I have never been able to understand why there has to be a choice. That just seems so limiting, to me.

I do both. I love having the items that I collect in pristine, stright-from-the-factory condition. But I still believe they were made to be opened. So I but two of each. I keep one sealed, and I open one to play with.

boss hi you doin----------you can have any it any way you like it-----------------------just wanted to see who is more freaky than the other.............

Just depends...when I use to collect 6", I'd keep them in blister packs and never opened them. Now that I've "grown up" and collect statues and 1/6, everything gets opened...

always good to see you boss......seen our friend lately , man i have not heard from him in years.....

I think he told me it has been two years since he has been down there. He has been trying to make the trip down there for about a year and a half...work and life are not cooperating. He has his own house painting business. And he has been hopping busy for quite a while. I don't think I'll make it this week...but I think I'll head down that way next week. I'll try to drag him along.

i have quite a few collector friends that buy items but never open them, they keep em BOXED protect the outside box or even the shipper box, always found that so strange as i love to open and smell and play with any toy i buy or even a candy bar-----hell smelled most of all my dates when i was young or my wife at this stage of my like-----i mean what the point of a toy or spouse when you can not enjoy them-----------what say you FREAKS............

Wait I'm confused, this a thread about loose collecting vs boxed (And new car smell.) or a fetish thread about a dude who steals women's underwear when they're not home? :lol

dude do you even know how to read......................:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

That's what I took from it... :cuckoo::dunno :lol

With HT, it's simple since the box is reuse friendly. I take the figure out and display it, and keep the box for if and when I want to sell. It would be insane to collect HT and keep them in the box, "I have a Joker figure. Never seen it, but I'm sure it's in that box right there." Of course, if you're not a collector and just flipping collectibles, I guess that makes sense, but surely there are safer things to invest in, aren't there?

When I was just starting collecting 13 years ago, I tried to keep stuff MISB. Nowadays I'll just unbox them as keeping figures sealed would defeat the purpose/joy of collecting for me.

The thing is that an opened figure could still command high prices nowadays as long as the demand is high. Those Play Arts Kai figures for example, some of them are so sought after that people don't even care anymore if they're sealed or not. Heck, some even will settle for a bootleg.

As long as my opened figure is in the best condition it could be, I'm happy. I don't need a sealed collection. Well, unless they come in clamshell packaging, I have plenty of those that will probably never be opened.

Now that I collect movie posters I don't really keep anything MISB anymore and almost everything gets opened.
If I want cool movie logos and such displayed on the wall I just look at the movie posters instead of the cards or boxes that I used to display.

However with the 6" figures I sometimes wish I didn't open them when it comes time to put them away.
I just think they would be safer in their original packaging.
The smaller stuff doesn't always stay on display and is changed around more often.

I'm mainly a lifesize, replica and statue collector so the empty box collection is quite large.

Wow.. Hey.. It's not toys!!
I don't collect boxes.. I collect dolls.
