I was thinking of getting a storage space to store some boxes, some of my less expensive collectibles, comics and maybe some of my SSC stuff. My room, part of the garage and a storage shed in my back yard are all packed and I want to lessen the clutter.

So, I was wondering if anyone here keeps stuff in storage and if you do, how safe is it? Darklord Dave mentioned something about putting his Studio Scale Falcon in storage, not sure if he was serious or not, but I thought I'd put this question out there to all my fellow collectors.

Sure do, living in So CA it is almost a necessity seeing as though we don't have basements or attics --- no, "crawl spaces" don't count. I have most of my un-boxed item's boxes stored in a 5 X 10 unit.

I just put all my stuff in storage as I am in the process of trying to find a new place but even when I do find one I think I will keep the storage. It's nice not having all these boxes everywhere anymore. Plus for only $58. a month for a 5x10 climate controlled unit is not too shabby!!!

I have a small lil storage area at my apt which is basicly wall to wall floor to cealing boxes.

I think Dave ment the box not the Falcon.

I've started selling what I don't see. If it not on my shelf for me to enjoy, no point in having it tucked in the closet or storage. Sell the bastage.

Do I have storage?!

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I pay more in storage rent per month than I paid for my apartment in college.

I just upgraded my public storage space from a a 5x10 to a 10x10 and it's already full. I also have 2 of those curb side crates that they take to the boonies and put in a warehouse.

I put a lot of empty boxes in the Door2Door box and I'm regretting it, as I'll have to have the crate delivered to my apartment so I can put everything in the empty boxes for a move. However these things are much cheaper than a public storage space.

Evilface has the right idea - sell or give it away if you can't display it. I have tons of toy action figures in storage that I'd sell if I had the time to list them. Same with about 200 Dragon figures. Save the storage for the empty boxes and make sure they're accessible.

I did mean the Falcon Box (not the toy), but I still haven't opened it - it scares me!

You guys have way too much stuff.:lol

I set aside a collectibles room in my house for my collection, when it grows beyond the capacity of the room I don't think I'll put anything in storage. I'll either stop collecting or look through what I've got and decide what I really want to keep.

No offence to anyone who keeps collectibles in storage, but I can't really see the point in having more stuff than you can keep in your house. That's just my opinion though, to each their own and I'm not putting down the way that anyone else manages their collection.

a) It's called OCD, b) Not knowing how to spend your money properly, c) having too much money to spend, d) Beats a gambling addiction, but it's an addiction nonetheless, e) The collection resides at your house and your the acting parent neutering it, in some cases eliminating the process of ever meeting a woman and having actual real children with her or him (if you swing on that side of the fence), or f) A through E all implies to you.

I dont understand it either. Why pay hundreds of dollars just to store boxes??

My wife has a big storage unit that she has been renting for the past 15 years. Its the size of a 2 car garage, very proximal to where we live and only costs 100 dollars a month since she has had it for so long.

My Box's go in there..

Im a feng Shui type of guy.. I dont believe in clutter, which means most of you people offend me.:emperor

All of my boxes are empty I dont have actual stuff in storage except all my vintage stuff which is being stored at my parents. Actually its more like its still at my parents:lol

None taken ;) , but in my case I knew that we would eventually be buying a home; and I would rather have paid retail (or less) for a number of my pieces than wait until I had the adequate space to display them and pay a premium. Now fortunately we are in a position to purchase a home, and I couldn't be more excited to finally set up a proper display area - in fact I will have access to my own collectibles room. :woo

In the meantime, I just transitioned through what was on display - you know, equal time for all my goodies. I did however evaluate my collection, and decided to part with a few of my SSW pieces, which at one point I had close to 150 of; so I suppose that was a good thing.

I'm getting ready to clear out my storage space in the apartment building I live in to make room for some of my empty boxes...sadly though they will not all fit in there. I hate the idea of paying money to store empty boxes, but I'm getting tired of looking at them lined up against my bedroom wall. Don't see too many options...either I shell out $$, I get rid of the boxes (which really is not an option) or I learn to enjoy the color of brown cardboard boxes and try to convince myself it is the lastest trend in decorating. :lol

Eh just put a cloth over the Hulk PF box and you have a very nice kitchen table.

I live in a one bedroom apartment, so storage is necessary. Eventually I hope to move out of LA so I can afford a house and that is why I have more stuff than I have room for.

And, NO, even if I sold everything and stopped buying stuff would I be able to afford a house in LA.

I kinda get what you guys are saying a little more now, especially those of you living in apartments and not yet in your own homes.

I guess limited bedroom space does become a concern, do you have to rotate the items you do have out on display then?

That's where my wife and I have been for the last seven years! :google

We live in a moderate two bedroom, it is actually fairly big (1,200 square feet) for an apartment. We always knew we would be able to get something some day, and now is the time - utilizing storage and such isn't a big deal for us, it was more about the long-term.

Yes Mr. Jabba I do indeed rotate my displays, so I get to see all my friends intermittently throughout the year.
