I was playing slots, started with $20 and got it up to $40. Instead of quitting I bet more and lost that $40 plus another $50 bucks. Boy did that suck.

Its funny how people talk about the times they win some. But, they forget to talk about the time that they loose it all back.
I didnt forget, I said I have lost my limit of a few grand more then once.

Want to hear it even clearer.

I have lost as much as 4k in a weekend and have lost around 2k 3 or 4 times. Most the time if I lost I would keep it controlled around $500. I would say that over all my trips to Vegas I am up maybe a few grand. I have won over 10k in a weekend and had maybe 5-6 couple grand weekends. My goal for any weekend was to win just enough to pay for the hotel and food so the trip was free, anything else was a bonus.

I also forgot to say I don't drink alcohol when I gamble unless I am just messing around at a dollar blackjack table or something cheap like that.

You wanna win big you gotta bet big, and dont shake lay it all down. I hate losing money, thats why I dont gamble.

Im going to steal this from Dave Attell

All gambling stories start out great and end up bad
I was up 10 000$, next thing you know Im blowing a guy for a sandwich

ahahahah

Thats why I only play poker

thats what happened to me @ the sands yesterday, penny slots max bet, just never won...figuring its 'just a matter of time' before ya start winning.
Nope.
I wasnt even winning the 'you bet a dollar you win .75 cents back' 'wins'. Tightest slot machines ive ever played...gonna be a long time till i go back there...and the casino is new...they normally let ya win at least a little at first...
For a few hour/day trip , I go with a 200- max loss limit (just not fun to me losing that with nothing to show)...i cant imagine what 'real' gamblers limit is ..

Don't ever play the slots in a casino on a reservation. I don't think they are as tightly regulated as in Vegas and seem to have worse odds.

I don't care for slots much, unless they are getting me free drinks at the bar, but I've won on slots in Vegas and never won on a slot machine on the reservation. Also, they don't serve free booze if you're gambling in a casino on a reservation.

i enjoy it, its fun (to a point) but you REALLY need to watch your $. I cant see how people do it more than a couple times a year. And its only fun if you are at least winning a little (kinda buying your time since you almost always give it back). With all the flashing lights, music, booze and cocktail waitresses around , i can easily see how people can lose thier shirts...ya just gotta go in with a limit you can accept losing and dont go over it,easy to say, hard to do...

aside:ya do see a lot of older sad folk just dumping money there cause they have nothing else to do with it i guess or just are shooting for the stars...the casinos dont get that big and opulent on people actually winning though...

The slots in those casinos are still pretty much regulated but the Nevada Gaming Board. I had an install there and was talking to some of the guys and pretty much the other casinos even though not in NV have to conform to NGC rules or they will tell vendors they cant sell to those casinos, if the vendors says not then they will not allow then to see in Vegas. So through the NGC ends up regulating virtually every casino.

Ummm yeah, I live in Vegas. :google :D

But honestly I rarely gamble, maybe some video poker or blackjack now and again; I am however looking forward to football season. :angelsmil

LOVE gambling...go to Vegas about twice a year and to the local casinos (hour long drive from Dallas to Oklahoma) about once a month.

LOL

Recently saw my father-in-law win $9500 on slots.

His biggest win was $45,000 about a year ago...no joke.

LOVE going to casinos. But being fully aware that I have a very strong addictive personality, I keep a really tight rein on myself. There's about 6 casinos 20-30 minutes away and I keep myself from going more than 2-3 times a year. And I only take cash with me (no checks, no cc, no debit card) and never more than $300 at a time. When I lose that, I go home. I don't go in hopes of making money....that's the road to ruin. I go for entertainment and if I do happen to beat the gambling gods every once in a while and have a win streak, it's gravy.

I'm not lucky so slots, craps, or roulette don't do a thing for me. Blackjack mostly and every once in a while a cheap table of hold 'em. I hate being 1st or 3d base position. And I quickly move off a table that has a moron making some horrible hits. Once, there was one I sat next to that hit on a 20. About 2 hands later, he split two 10s. The dealer kept saying "are you SURE?" and the idiot kept insisting. We all moved off quickly. There was one time YEARS ago that I played a $20 bill in Vegas for 4 hours on a $1 blackjack table. THAT was fun. Up, down, up, down, and finally down to my last $5 and it's 3:30 a.m. Bet it all and came up BJ. Let it ride...BJ. Put $5 and came up with 2 Aces....split them....another Ace....split that....another Ace....4 Aces altogether. Wound up with 19, 21, 20, BJ. Dealer stands on 18. VERRRRY nice. Since it was 4 a.m. by then and we had to hit the road in a couple of hours, I had to get some sleep so I let it all ride for my final hand. 18. Dealer walks 6 cards up to 20. Easy come, easy go. But I had a heck of a good time.
