Yeah, Donna is going to be hard to top. Which was amazing as I was not all that excited about her return. But then... man, she was so great. I haven't disliked any companion yet, but I think Donna just edges past the others.

I will have to say, the kissing needs to stop. It's not clever. It's not cute. It's not interesting. Not any more. It's just old hat and very, very boring at this point. I had no problem with the 8th Doctor kissing Grace (well, sort of the other way around) and no problem with Rose and the Doctor as I loved their story line. But after that... blah. It's just not interesting any more.

Yeah, I didn't care for that either. We've already seen 11's flustered kiss routine with Amy and River, let's come up with a new gag.

Thing is ever since RTD first re-booted the show they've been chasing more female viewers and trying to broaden the audience demographic.

Thats why RTD would often cite Buffy when talking about the kind of elements he wanted to bring into the show, and I'm afraid having more emotional based storylines is a part of that, and something Moffats has tried to build on by the looks of things.

I liked Donna as a companion, she was made better by having a story that didn't involve some love aspect, something that seriously hampered Marthas run.

Clara is quickly becoming favourite, I like her smart and intelligent side also Moffat has got the sassy side right after River who I found a bit OTT at times.

The kissing hasn't bothered me with 11 because there's no misplaced romance bar his wife, I don't really want another Rose situation though.

Coitus in the Cloister room?

:rotfl While the newer series hasn't shied away from romance and other shenanigans, I think even Moffat would stay away from that (though River seemed to push it at times)

After watching a few of Series 5 episodes today, the show has had a clear evolution and in my mind for the better, I think every year is better than the last bar S3. Clara has made a better impact on me in her first episode than I remember Amy having.

I loved the new opening and the new console room but really thought the episode was kinda crap.

I will stand alone over here.

I thought it was a helluva lot better than last year's disaster story, the only partial redeeming factor of that was the last five minutes.

Best TARDIS interior set yet for Nu-Who..i hated the other sets to the point it helped turn me away from following the series...think i may dip my feet back in again..still hate the Cybermen designs though, they look a little better in that season preview trailer.

The first episode back just wasn't all that inspiring for me. It was like a mash up of The Idiot's Lantern and Partners in Crime that just felt very samey for lack of a better word. Lovely performances by Matt Smith and JLC, but so far, she's feeling like a mash up of Rory and River. I don't know, the whole thing, apart from the performances of the two leads, just came off very bland.

I'd be more excited if Eccleston were coming back. Tennant's departure was so drawn out, I can't say his return is all that exciting. I'm sure it'll be fun to watch those two play off of each other though. I heard Rose is coming back too. :monkey4

This thread should be on fire! What's wrong?

I'm just waiting it out until Moffat is done. I don't want to become the new bcm here, but I'm really tired of Moffat's parlor tricks. My mind has been "blown" so much that I'm just totally sick of it now. I don't care what the secret of this new companion is, so I think I'm in for a rough time considering that's going to be the focus of the next half season (if not more).

And I think his "every day things can be scary!" schtick has jumped the shark. Wifi is not scary.

Tennant and Piper coming back? That's something I can get excited about. :blissy I just kinda sorta with RTD was coming back too... :monkey3

Tennant and Piper. That's nice. But it's not epic.

"The Eleven Doctors" would be epic.

50th anniversary means you go get all the living actors and some guys that do passable performances of the first three. You do a special eppisode that's more than an hour long. Put the water works and sad music on hold for an episode.

And as Kubuki said - Wi-Fi is not scary. Not every episode needs a scene to scare my kids.
