So I was out tonight at one of my favorite watering holes, and I see this sign while sitting at my table.

For those of you that know me, I'm in no way some bleeding heart hippie. Or is it hippy? Anyway, the more I sat and looked at this sign, the more it offended me. I know most of the staff, and I finally talked to our waitress, a very cool and sweet girl, who defended it (long time hard working employee) while I explained how I felt about it, which wasn't positive.

So now I'm curious, is this sign appropriate in a bar/restaurant setting?

being a former business owner/manager i see no problem with it. though if you feel you have workers that need a sign to get them to do their job, then maybe you should get new workers.:dunno

My argument was that if I had such problem employees that need a sign to tell them not to screw around too much, I'd have a private talk with the employee or group of employees, and if needed one warning, then show them the door.

I guess I just thought it was totally classless to display this sign in plain view if the customers.

The only thing that offends me is the lack of proper grammer. "Your not..."

Well, Your not a very smart boss to post that up without reading through it better :lol

The "employees must wash hands" signs are worse IMO. Do they really need signs to remember to wash their hands after using the restroom? I mean really. :dunno

That's some funny shat...:lol when you're the boss you can't be everywhere.. kids these days need signs....:goodpost:

I really like all the writing about what they could be doing..

I dunno about rural Utah, but in Philly, a McDonalds on Broadstreet, hell yes they need that sign. They aren't exactly all about the career and advancement opportunities over there and could care less about such a thing.

The grammar offends me too. And I agree with Darth, it shows weak leadership. That kind of stuff should be handled behind closed doors. If I was in there and saw the sign, it would give me the impression that the managers don't know what they're doing and probably don't treat the employees right. But the TS did say that a long employee of this place defended the sign, so, whatever.

My previous manager had put up signs like that(wrong spellings and all!:slap)all over behind the counter in the coffee house where I used to moonlight. Coffee would literally come spraying out of the regular's noses whenever I showed them one of the signs. Evil, I know!

Not enought to take a pic and create a post on the internet about.

Sorry, guess it was just me. I just thought it was a little odd, not used to seeing employers treating their employees like children in public. Plus it was an interesting discussion I had with the server about how to, and how not to, handle the situation of a lesser performing employee. In public, and leaving signs of your management style, as well as having the writing skills of a 5th grader, would seem to be least preferred and most worthy of discussion that I thought I'd share.

I dont even understand what it's trying to say.....what does the sign moving have to do with anything? I'm utterly confuzzled.

All I know for sure is that I cant see it move :dunno

I guess what they are trying to say is if you see the sign move you must be really ____ed up and thus not attentive to your customers.
