DBZ is my favorite only due to nostalgia. There are a lot better animes out there with substance, better plot and character development. But like SW for some people, DBZ will always have a special place in me.
To be honest, I wish Toriyama and the writers on the DB shows capped the Super Saiyan limit at 3. When I first witnessed him turning into SS3, I went nuts, it was awesome, I thought there was no way any being in existence could top that power...until I heard rumors of SS level 4. 4?!? I thought (I was younger then) that if a Saiyan were to reach SS4, existence as we know would implode on itself, like a reverse big bang. I was wrong I guess. It seemed Saiyans could keep getting stronger as the need for plot progression demanded (or when writers were stumped for story points).
Akira rocks!
Actually what are some animes you guys would recommend from the obvious, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, etc.
Have you seen Ninja Scroll or Grave of the fireflies ???? The first is Kickass the latter is very sad. I also enjoyed Spirited Away and My neighbour Totoro

I just downloaded and watched the 1080p trailer of dragonball evolution on my ps3.
I have seen the trailer before on youtube but even with the nice HD experience of this trailer I was not impressed at all.
this looks so terrible and what's up with the monks creating the DRAGONBALLS!!!!
KAMI creates the dragonballs when he lands on earth.
Clearly the ^^^^ed up the story allready.
This is available for download?!
Hang in the Solid. I'm a big DBZ fan too, so I see where you're coming from. Lets hold judgment until the movie is out. I'm not saying that it will be the blockbuster of the year, but I'd be telling a lie if I said that I wasn't excited for its release.
“If there were to be a sequel I think it… well, I know that it would go to a really interesting place, because they already have the second script written.” When pressed for details, Chatwin revealed a little more about the direction of the celluloid version of the franchise. “It’s really, really cool. The second one goes more into the whole legacy and the genealogy of Dragonball. It goes more in-depth into a real Dragonball series, the kind of intergalactic world of Dragonball.”
Dragonball 2 to go to an “interesting place”

Dragonball: Evolution, the first live-action adaptation of the popular manga, hasn’t even hit our screens yet, but the script for a proposed sequel has already been written, according to Justin Chatwin, who plays Goku in the upcoming film.
Speaking to SciFiNow last month, the 26-year-old actor said that he was signed on for potential sequels, and that he was excited about the prospect:
Dragonball: Evolution stars Justin Chatwin, Emmy Rossum, and Chow Yun-Fat. The film is released in Japan on 13 March 2009, the United Kingdom on 3 April 2009, and the United States on 8 April 2009.
This movie is going to fail harder then any movie ever.
I smell Vegeta!
I'm really hyped about Evolution and hopefully, it does well enough to "green-light" a sequel.
