1st Sideshow shipment that's been on display since I got it. Not even a hint of oil and no residue from the tape on the belt.

Why are people being such titty sucks over this?, its just the seal behind the belt causing this minor issue no?.

You should go back and read RoryWan in both the Indy DX threads... :ohbfrank::monkey4:monkey4:monkey4:monkey4 Truly embarrassing stuff...

Well, it's another way to look at...just let it go, I did tell myself.
However you don't know what more problems/defects the products may have:horror

Maybe just the people who have the oil issue should chime in?
Again I'm just relating this back to the DX02 thread, the exact same thing happened there. We don't want 40 pages of "mine is oil free".
I hope all the figures remain oil free, I have extra bodies ordered. But none of us will know for a while. So let's just watch and report?

With the DX and Comedian, both threads were at first flooded with "mines fine" posts... Later came the running and screaming...

If somebody is willing to keep track of all this I'm actually interested in who's is fine as well as who sees some residue. Gives an idea of the percentage that are bad. That's just me though and something I'm curious about.

Maybe the puffed out, harder body is the solution they came up for the leaking similar to the harder DX02. :dunno

don't think so, as major adjustments such as that would require a lot of tweaking in the casting mold; which I honestly think HT would never do. It's either they wore the rubber suit on a different kind of true type body or it could be just a 1 off TT body deformity/casting of rubber suit deformity.

Hmm.. Dunno, maybe this is completely random. I had a look down the neck of mine, he has a fabric quilted undersuit on. Maybe they changed this on later production models, or not, who knows. There are definitely 2 variants though. And I prefer the looser one.

Yeah, mine has that fabric too. Not sure if it's a shirt or what but it's definitely there. Now whether or not Marf or Jed or anyone else who just received the latest figures have this fabric remains to be seen. However he did describe the torso being exactly like our first versions, i.e. no hard full chest underneath.

There are bound to be anomalies here and there. When you have mass produced product I highly doubt any two figures will be identical. It'd be nice though.

I know the first thing I'm going to check for on my second version is whether or not it has oil and then this hollow chest vs. hard chest. If it's anything like your pics, I just want a second version of the one I currently own, my first version. If Marf is correct, that should be the one I'm getting since we ordered from the same retailer.

I'll be damned. I didn't notice that. Just checked and mine has that too.

BTW, I just looked under my belt and there is no residue of any kind since removing the tape. So my issue was definitely due to adhesive not oil. For now I'm in the no oil camp, but as many have said, it remains to be seen if that will last...

Nope. Some are leaking despite the belt being removed and having been wiped clean. It's the same issue as the DX02.

Ouuuu ____..yea and as i am now staring at mine in my detolf he smiles back at me..i can read his lips..."just wait bitxh".

Yup. People just keep buying, giving HT little incentive to change. Matter of fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they still came out handsomely on top despite the changes and replacements they made on the DX02 (which were too little, too late and not nearly close to fixing the issue). I don't think Keaton will wind up any different as it seems for every person who canceled or is going through an issue, there are 5+ either downplaying it, ignoring it, or making excuses for it.

"Who's Daddy's little happy Batman? Who's a happy Batty? Awwe, how cuuuuuuuuuute! You're so happy you widdled, wipey, wipey!" :monkey1

You forgot to mention those simply not having an issue with it. Not saying there may not be a problem, just saying not everybody is experiencing it. Simple as that. Same as with every other product ever made. Some have problems with it while others don't and looking at the list those seeing oil compared to those that don't will give you a little clue as to how it may affect sales.

While the one I have now is trouble free the one I get from AE may be a greasy mess. Who knows.

I'm pretty sure that's the deal. They sold them as a set at a certain rate, so I'm pretty sure I won't get Batman until Joker arrives in stock.

Isn't really a big deal to me. I was just wondering if I might get an even later run of the Batman.

I thought you could have them shipped seperate and just pay a little extra for shipping?

Point being, it's just too soon for people to write this off. Again, as we saw with the DX02, leaking started anywhere from straight out of the box, to a year or more. I'd hate to see someone just blow this off because others are quick to dismiss it and then suddenly, well after the return policy has expired, wind up having a leaky figure.

It would be a crying shame if the problem appeared or worsened a year later. Hopefully that's not the case. I see plenty of TDK DX Bats being offered recently without oil issues that give me hope.

So... I too have now discovered the dreaded oil beneath the belt on my DX09. Unlike the thinner oil on my DX02, this was a thick, sticky, oil-like substance which was difficult to wipe away and left a bit of a shine even after being cleared away. For now, the location seems to be isolated to the right side of the abdomen, beneath the magnet/tape strip. I've left the belt off until I decide what to do or this thread provides any insight. What a joke.

I'm just too bummed to even complain right now. I'll save my rant for later I guess. ____ing Hot Toys.

:lecture Same here. Also, this is a pretty rare license for Hot Toys, and I would say that the chances are very slim for Batman 89 figures to be offered for sale by another company, let alone, to be re-released by Hot Toys in the future when Nolan Batman is all the rage these days. So, we probably won't have many options on 1/6 scale 89 Keaton figures besides what's being released right now from Hot Toys. Oil or not, I'm keeping my pre-order.

My Bats arrived yesterday & out of the box he's fine, no signs of any issue but I'm not saying it won't happen.

What I won't be doing is getting myself worked up or worried about it.
Precious little I can do if it does happen as I ordered outside of an authorised chain so I have no comeback.

Way I look at it is if it does happen down the line then so be it...I'll just enjoy him for what he is while he's perfect.
If it takes a year then I'll have lost £200 but that's a little under £20 a month & I generally spend more than that on beer a month & have F-all to show for that, at least this way I'll have enjoyed THE best figure HT have ever produced & still have a figure...maybe a mushy mess but still a figure none the less.

Anyway...He's awesome & problems or not I'm over the moon that I own him.
