I sold a Fell Beast statue about a week ago on ebay. The seller emailed me upon receiving it, saying it was damaged (I shipped it in mint condition!!!). I purchased insurance from Fedex for the total price. I asked him to send pics and they were blurry and I couldn't see much (maybe a white blotch on the nose). I asked if he found chips in the box or if the box showed signs of damage and he said he couldn't find any pieces and the box was in good condition.

Without negotiation, the buyer requested a full refund, said he would send the package back when I refunded him, wanted me to file the claim, and opened a dispute.

Any suggestions of what to do???

You sold it to him and shipped it insured to the buyer. Your end is done. If it was damaged during shipment, he needs to take it up with the shipper, that is what insurance is for.

Either way, you will prolly get fauked on feedback, but I doubt paypal would do anything since is was shipped and received. "item not as described" is very difficult for a buyer to win with paypal.

yep it's up to the buyer to take it up with the shipping company. you purchased the insurance so you're in the right.

good job on adding insurance. i never sell anything without insurance i dont even give the buyers and option. i just automatically add it into the price.

No feedback yet, but I'm assuming I'll get my first negative as soon as I request for him to file the claim with fedex and don't refund his money.:monkey2

That is my biggest concern when I sell something.

I had a buyer who did not pay, no rplies to my messages, contacted eBay but no real help (only their usual standard copy/paste messages)

I ended up paying the commissions and placing costs.

Good communication is the best start to solve problems.

I already emptied my paypal account (I usually do this whenever I get $10 in it because of all the horrible paypal experiences people have) and now it has a negative balance for the price of the item saying:

"The funds are not available while this transaction is being reviewed"

I have auctions ending this week. Will any funds from the people paying me be held to???

If so, should I switch my email to my wifes paypal account, so that the payments for these items go to her?

they will hold any money that goes in up to the amount held. Switch those emails.

I have to agree with that, and because it looks like he doesn't want to communicate much with you to rectify this, when he goes to ebay, to file a claim, they will just instruct him to communicate with you. You basically don't have any control as to what may happen, so don't sweat the negative feedback and let this guy do the leg work, which he will if the item was really damaged. Blurry photo's wont hold much sway with ebay either.

ouch he already filed a paypal dispute with you? i say gather your evidence to support your claim and screw this guy since he doesnt want to work WITH you on this.

I just bought a hot toys stand from customizerwannabe on Ebay and he sent me the wrong stand. After receiving the correct one ths past saturday, he emails me threatening me to leave a negative if i dont send back the first stand that he sent. The guy doesnt even have any patience and assumes im trying to rip him off....I was going to mail back his stand for free but now that he wants to be an ass I emailed him back asking him to pay his own shipping or Im holding on to it. I just dont have tolerance for a-holes on ebay.

I know its not your problem, but maybe you can assist in filing the claim with carrier. That might make him happier. But I would tell him that you need clear pictures of the items damage or you can't help him. If you do get negative feedback its not all bad, you can fight it I thought or at least explain it. I don't worry if someone has one feedback that explainable, since some people have left negative for no good reason.

This is why we boycott!

This will only get worse when the new feedback changes start in May.

Oh, and you are farked. Prepare to lose the money and try to get the insurance money for yourself. But you will be out of a statue.

Sorry, but lesson learned.

not necessarily, on the claim, just explain that insurance was provided, with some evidences, and im sure paypal will side with him. if you help the buyer file the claim with fedex, a nuetral will be the most likely feedback if the buyer is half decent which i think he/she is considering he/she hasn't left one yet.

i gotta agree here. sounds like this guy is one of the first aholes to try and use the new eBay rules to his benefit by blackmailing a seller. under the new rules he can NOT receive any feedback from u, the seller. he can only leave u feedback. awfully fishy that he gives blurry, useless photos and wants u to refund him first before he sends the item back. if u refund, he keeps the statue and can't get any negative feedback from u. u don't refund, he screws ur nice feedback w/ a neg.

Did you leave the buyer feedback yet? If not... and they leave you a negative, give them a negative right back. Usually people stop being pricks at that point and will listen and you can also later mutually withdraw the feedback.

I know it sounds a bit shady, but I know I'm on the up-and-up with the stuff I sell, but I honestly don't always trust that a buyer won't try to claim damage or some BS to try and get a free item. So I always withhold leaving feedback until I receive it first... similarly if I'm the buyer I always leave feedback as soon as I have the item and assess the condition.

Did you send it with Signature confirmation?

Thats what Fed Ex insurance is for :monkey5

Either way, it's gonna end with a "negative" somewhere, like Shropt said. He already filed with paypal. SO he is in no means to talk it out.
