Well, Ebay officially DICKED me on my custom Mr. Freeze sale. They removed it. I guess you can't even make a custom of a figure that is only LOOSELY based on a character, and isn't made in any shape or form at all.

I hate that artists are kicked in the balls like this... A tradition that spans the length of the existence of mankind, such as creating a statue of Achilles or Zeus...or so on.. Dies such an unnecessary death.

Oh, imagine if Achilles had lawyers looking out for the "sanctity of his image"... would we have any art that was created in his honor? Or would the art world be lessened by the lack of created works?

^^^^ Ebay... I am DONE with those freakin bastards. And a BIG ^^^^ you to WB... they can kiss my ass. :banghead

Methinks this was just eBay's doing, and not totally WB's. Like eBay doesnt want to get another lawsuit on its hands, so it acts out.

But I like WB....and I dont really see them doing something like this. Fox....totally.

I mean... what's next? You can't sell non Don Post Michael Myers masks on Ebay? You can't sell your own custom screen printed T shirts if they feature ANYTHING that is licensed? No fan art of licensed characters??

I mean, stopping another figure maker from making something that you've already put on the market? I can understand that... they are competing with a license they don't even have to pay for.

But for a ONE off custom figure, of something that is only a very loose interpretation of a licensed character...something that could never be reproduced by WB or mass produced by myself... to be removed??

That is CRAP. I don't care what they say... It's bull^^^^.

I know... But it's still something that has been reigned in by the studios for a while. Ebay is just finally getting harsh on it. And I don't even think they look at it case by case anymore.

I think they just find anything with that keyword and delete it.

Man I'm sorry to hear about this. I've never heard of customs being booted from ebay. What about the custom Indys and Conans I see on there all the time?

I used to be able to sell anything custom on Ebay, didn't matter what it was. But they are starting to crack down hard on it... This one was only up for 3 days...

And they better not charge me, I will make a ^^^^ing stink about it.. :banghead

It's a very small percentage they catch. Only if someone makes a complaint do they bother policing. Then they shut it down with barely a glance. I've had WWII 1/6 caps pulled for being "hateful". Couldn't even see the insignia.

Interesting... I guess I have a hater out there somewhere. Wish I knew who they were, I'd like to stomp their balls in the dirt. :devil

That could be it...honestly. I mean does anyone really think they go out and FIND these customs? I doubt it. They probably got ^^^^ from Fox, or Lionsgate, and are now just deleting to be safe...yanno?

I'm surprised. Isn't "one off art" exempt from copyright? Also, thousands of custom star wars merch has been sold on ebay. Weird.

That's what I thought! I mean, if I were making a bunch or something.. I could understand.

But a large amount of art has been created from inspiration, many of which were literary or film characters. And one figure isn't going to hurt anybody. This really pisses me off, I'm freakin DONE with Ebay.. I will NEVER sell there again.
