I have a question, how long should I wait for an item to ship after I've won it on Ebay?

I won an item on the 13th of March and have yet to receive it. The buyer has close to 1000 feedbacks and has a 99 rating. I've left two e-mails to this guy asking when he/she though my item might ship and never got a response. Should I start to worry?? He's in the US, as am I.

Have you filed the claim with ebay that will pop up when they log into ebay and really can't be missed.

Yes, start to worry and think about filing a claim. The first sign of trouble is lack of communication. I think paypal gives you 30 or 45 days in which to do so. Just remember to be reasonable with your expectancies and follow your gut feeling. :)

However, sometimes companies can't answer all their emails. Also, how was your item shipped? Parcel post and media mail can take forever.

I haven't filed a claim yet, but am getting suspicious. It was supposedly being sent Priority. That's what's got me bothered. I was just reading some off the feedback and some people are saying "quick Shipment".

One time, I waited and waited for my item to arrive. I kept seeing all these new feedbacks for quick shipping and I was worried. Rightfully so though, I never got my package. They finally refunded me the money and said that it was destroyed in the mail. Do what you have to do but don't be rash. Sometimes there are reasonable explanations.

If the guy is a high volume seller I would give the guy 3 weeks to get his stuff out. Then I would email him and give him a week to respond. If no contact is made or my stuff is not there by the end of the 3rd week, thats when I would raise a dispute.

Has he marked the item "shipped"? If not, I'd think about filing... Especially if he isn't answering your emails.

You are right, I don't want to do anything rash. I sell stuff on Ebay as well from time to time and wouldn't want someone doing anything rash, if let's say that an item was lost in the mail.

So Pix, you are saying that 3 weeks is the "rule of thumb" with High Volume sellers?

Where would I see that? I thought that was only for items "sold"

I'm with Marc on this one if it's a high volume seller. Last year something similar happened to me and the seller thought he had already shipped my item...after emailing him a few times he responded and apologized and quickly sent out my item that same day. Unfortunatley, with high volume sellers...sometimes things can fall between the cracks....he doesn't respond to your email within one week...then definitely file a dispute.
My 2 cents. :)

For me, yeah. Especially if I check out his feedback and there are no red flags but he has shipped out a ton of merchandise in a short period of time. He's prolly just snowed under but will get to your stuff.

Still if he hasn't contacted you by the end of the third week after the auction ended... :thwak

If you go under "View Order Details" is shows the shipping status. Just looking at the few things I've bought, it shows the dates when the items where shipped. And your item should be marked as "sold" if you bought it.

I recently waited the full 45 days you have before submitting a dispute with paypal. He finally sent the item after that (or claims to have).

But 13 days isn't a huge amount of time to wait for shipping.

Thanks! It doesn't say anything about a shipping date.

You guys are right, I'll give this guy a few more days. Thanks for all your advice. I'll keep you posted!

Well, the guy just got back to my e-mail and apologized for not getting in touch sooner. He was "away" it seems. Either way he gave me a tracking number and it seems that the package was mailed out yesterday. So I might have panicked for nothing. I've been burned on Ebay before and I guess I jumped to conclusions too fast. Thanks for all the advice again.

I just got the item I put in a dispute about too, nearly 2 months after paying for it. He even refunded the shipping costs.
