The base and acrylic box the ECC Raptor ships with is excessively large, so i made a very simple white block for it to be fixed to, allowing me to more freely position it in the collection. It's obviously way too cramped in the display in these images, just waiting on another piece to arive in a few weeks before reorganising the entire display, but at least shows how more flexible the placement can be with the smaller base.

Bonus closeup shot to show just how incredible the eyes are when light catches them just right.

What material did you use? Is it hollow? How did you get the foot pegs to align?

I'm a total newbie when it comes to these things, but have long wished I could make my own simple bases. Been passing on a lot of great pieces purely because their bases are too busy or oversized.

It's made of solid oak so its quite heavy, a nice sturdy base. Edges are chamfered and sanded, then spray painted. I then measured the size and spacing of the metal pegs under the raptors feet, and drilled the holes. The metal pegs aren't exactly straight so it took some trial and error before it lined up and fit well, only adjusting and drilling with larger and larger drillbits a little at a time to not risk it being a loose fit. I made the holes slightly wider than the pegs so i could fit some small metal casings for extra stability the exact width of the pegs for a tight fit, using these: https://static.esska.de/shop/bilder/hauptbilder_neu/85_armaturen/8589/858910300_250.jpg
