After watching Ace of Cakes and the like, I thought my “mom and I could do that!” it is a bit more difficult than I thought, but we’ve actually gotten good enough to started a small side business doing sculpted cakes.

Here’s a Captain Kirk Cake. The head and hands I cast in tinted white chocolate in a throw away mold I made for the Kirk head I sculpted, the chair and the rest is fondant covered pound cake. It’s currently on cakecentral.com for the Star Trek cake contest.

Great job!!

I also agree that the cakes made on Ace of Cakes are pretty darn amateur. I think yours looks better than 90% of the cakes on that show.

HOOOOOOOOLEEEEEEEE CRAAAAP!

That is bloody AWESOME!

I'm sure you're gonna win with that

I've been seeing those cake shows lately, and that's WAY better than everything I've seen there. You have sculpting talent, make sure you work on some inedible goods, too!

Looks great!

But the chair does have a bit of a giant toilet vibe. Gives new meaning to the "To Boldly Go" tag line. :lol
