You really jumped full force into the Star Wars custom. No pun intended.

Finished the real hair on Anakin.
I went with the curly greasy look from the final battle on Mustafar.

that's fantastic!

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•CHEWBACCA•LORD STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•ANAKIN SKYWALKER

Unreal Seb. Never think an Anakin figure would look so great with real hair but that's why I'm me and you're you.

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•CHEWBACCA•LORD STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•ANAKIN SKYWALKER

Thanks guys! I gotta say I wasn't sure if the hair will trun out good but in the end i'm very happy with the result.

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•CHEWBACCA•LORD STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•ANAKIN SKYWALKER

Its it just me or does that sculpt look like a grown Jake Lloyd. Not necessarily what he looks like now, but I mean it looks more like a grown Jake Lloyd than Hayden Christensen looks like a grown Jake Lloyd? Am I even making sense? :dunno

Anyway, phenomenal work on the hair, Seb. Without a doubt the best I have seen in 1/6.

:clap

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•CHEWBACCA•LORD STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•ANAKIN SKYWALKER

Here's copy and past from a few posts :)

Here's the hair I used.

https://www.befr.ebay.be/itm/14084519...84.m1439.l2649

It is completely different than Chewie. Chewie is fake fur and here it's lamb.

I used fabi tak glue.
First if removed the hair on the sculpt and resculpted the back of the head. The head need to be bald before applying the hair.

Here's the tutorial I used.

DOn't do this on the final sculpt if you never done it before. It's really tricky and you will need some practice before.

A hard part is to cut the hair and style them. Pretty much a hairstyler job

I used hair gel and hair spray to style the hair.

Thanks for the info mate - fantastic work!! I seem to be making a habit of making you repeat yourself - sorry! :1-1:

I've hair punched hair before (1:1 scale) but had no idea how to do it on this scale - so thanks for the break down buddy

Have you had interest/experience making stuff 1:1 scale, or anything larger than 1/6?

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•CHEWBACCA•LORD STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•ANAKIN SKYWALKER

I must say that is a real pain in the ***. Probably the worst thing cause it needs to be completely clean.

I glued all the hair strand by strand starting with the back of the head.

I know it sucks but I think this is the future of this hobby. I'll bet companies like Hot Toys are trying to figure out a way to mass produce this level of realism.

Aces buddy.

You're probably right. ATM the hair and the way they are punching them doesn't look realistic. ATM either black widow or catwoman they are using barbie like hair and tbh it looks too dollish.

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•CHEWBACCA•LORD STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•ANAKIN SKYWALKER

I agree. If you look at customizers like Lalla, it seems to be the next level. Look at the head sculpts and tailoring ten years ago and people probably wouldn't think what we get today was possible. This hobby seems to be lead by customizers. Eventually some one will develop an easier way and then in turn, so will mass production.

Maybe its soft casts of PVC that get punched? Of course this will all be reflected in the price increases. ;)

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•CHEWBACCA•LORD STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•ANAKIN SKYWALKER

Yes I think you're right although I still think that any mass product items can reach hand work EVER!

That is why we are here and are doing what we do.

Damn Seb, if the artist thing isn't working out for you, you can become a hairstylist. :lol

I agree, but the reason hand work is better because its innovative and always in the front. Most of the mass produced stuff is still hand made, just made by multiple people.

Almost everything can be broken down to process and then taught and executed. Almost. And then it comes down to cost effective. We do stuff for a limited market.

And we love you both for it dearly! :1-1:

Think people like yourselves push hot toys to make improvements.
They are on catch up all the time:)
And eventually they will start using lambs wool and make wigs for their figures as it will be the norm.

I am having a nightmare with my rehairing but its getting there, just takes patience waiting for the glue to dry and a bit of trial and error.
Keep up the good work and making the "experts" look lame;)

To be fair, most of the artisans at HT were stellar customizers. Its the reason they were hired.
