Still an easy PASS for me. My first of the SW line.

Good luck to those who are interested in the Strike Force pack, though. I hope you enjoy them!

Thanks we will. :)

They can justify any price they want as long as the item still sells. This is Star Wars and there will always be a loyal fan base for collectibles. They could charge $75 and these would still sell out so count your blessings and quit your b!tchen.
With all due respect, that is as bad a rationale as I've seen on here ("Well, it's STAR WARS so they can charge whatever they want and blindly loyal collectors will still buy the stuff, so it's okay with pricing these however they want."). Huh?

In all seriousness, I really REALLY hope the majority of you do not feel this way. If so, prepare the barrels and say goodbye to your wallets. I'm sorry, but there IS such a thing as overpriced goods whether they sell-out or not.

Wow, you got me good there.

I did already when I realized how cool these where.

Well, for the record, consider yourself exempt for these statements. You are a SSC completist through-and-through. And that's cool. You have both the expendable income and the passion for that, so I see no problem with it whatsoever. There are a few others out there like that as well, and some SW collectors who will buy EVERYTHING in this line no matter what the character or price. I realize that. I'm talking about the rest of us... the ones who DO have limits, whether be it budget-based or taste-based. And because a large quantity of their consumer base has limits, SSC would be wise to have some themselves. And I think they do... I sure as heck hope they don't have the "Katy bar the door" attitude toward this line that Loki and others do. If so, more people will jump ship from this line than you think.

I agree with you Irish! I am not going to keep buying these figures, if they keep raising the prices. I like SW but I also have my limits.

So does this mean the Strike Force bundle will include the regular edition infantry soldier and the exclusive versions of Nik Sant and the Sargeant?

Yes, that's what it means, as there are no regular versions of the other two - sorry that was confusing in the text, we will attempt to clarify that in the next newsletter :duff

I'm with Irish too. How selfish of some board members to forget about people that do have limited fonds. How selfish to forget about people that have to pay higher shipping costs and taxes, which are also to be taken in account when a purchase is done. It's not because you can afford everything, others can too. DON'T spawn stupid 'if you can't afford it, don't buy it" remarks now. That's not what its about. It's about some collectors continuously encouraging SSC to raise the prises on their goods ("It's only 5 dollars!"). Better think about what you could buy from all those $5 that you've saved if the price stays low! IMO, it's so dumb to tell Sideshow all the time that what ever they charge, it's ok! That only makes the price go up! Personally, I'm willing to pay for quality, but only up to a certain limit. If I can't comprehend a price, it's game over.

Edit: or in other words, I only buy what I like!

Sideshow can't cater this line to each individual's budget. I certainly can't afford everything, but I don't expect them to plan their business model around my finances.

That's true but oversaturation leads to consumer apathy, as the current Hasbro marketing model has shown.

One more clarifier Dusty... does this mean that the infantry figure is only a regular edition and he does not have an exclusive version? Sorry for :horse

Well said, AA and Irish Jedi. Let's not needlessly burn our greenbacks.

Buy what you like.

I still don't see what the problem is.

The problem as I interpret (and honestly agree with) it is that if the prices continue to rise, then there's a segment of collectors who simply get priced out of "buying what they like"

As a personal example: Medicom's RAH Rocketeer. I love the way it looks. I always wanted to get it. Ended up having to cancel my pre-order because it was priced out of my range. I wanted to buy what I like, but the price prohibited it.

Agreed. You can only charge so much on your credit card before the financial burden puts you into a position where you cannot afford to buy everything you like. You have to become selective about your purchases in order to afford the really cool stuff you really do want. I bought Jabba. I'm not buying Abercrombie & Fitch and Eddie Bauer.

And in terms of price, Luke was $50, but a commando would be $60? Just seems a bit steep of a mark-up on a background character. Although we still don't know for sure if that's going to be the final price... just what SWI said.

But I bet you the guy who played Nik Sant (provided he isn't dead) is over-the-moon right now about being immortalized in plastic... who'd a thunk it?

I'd like to buy a brand new ZO6 Corvette. Maybe if I whine on a GM board they will cut the cost for me.

We all make sacrifices for what we want.

I undersand the concern about pricing. It is more than valad. For my end I won't cry foul until I see figures with an all cloth outfit topping the $65-70 range. That's just me. Buy what you can like and can afford. Now come on folks, let's all get back to talking about the coolness of Star Wars. Let's all just get alone once more, before the dark times. Before the commandos!

Disclaimer: Please note the last statment is not a statement based on any belief but merely a statment of humor and parody. I myself plan to get these figures.
